honeypear
I am a person who survived being attacked by an ex-bf. I went from being very confident, out going person to the complete opposite. He was sentenced for his crimes in June. But I lived in fear of him for 5 years waiting for this justice. In the process I cut myself off from everyone that I know. I started taking public speaking classes again to regain some confidence. I am not ready to date, I would like to focus on being more comfortable with myself as a woman again. But would like to talk to people tht dont have the end game of sex, or sex chats. Would like to chat with people about current events or history. I need to slowly come out of my shell again and this is how i need to start again. Any advice where I can find places to chat with people who dont need to know my prefences for sex. thanks in advance

Author honeypear
In Canada or the USA?? I believe the USA would benefit with a system similar to us in Canada. Our system is not perfect by any means and itself needs to be looked at in terms of being reformed. I think everyone should have access to affordable healthcare no matter their status

Our system is not perfect by any means and itself needs to be looked at in terms of being reformed. I think everyone should have access to affordable healthcare no matter their status I agree, everyone does have the right to healthcare. They also have the right and responsibility to earn it. Healthcare reform is important, but a socialistic, state run system is not the answer. The world reveres American medicine for a reason, it's the best.
Author honeypear
Yes it is one OF the best in the world. But what if you work and still cant afford healthcare should you be punished for that. If what they are proposing is not what you would like to see. Then what??? I live in Canada and it makes me quite sad to see many people not be able to afford decent healthcare. And yes our's is gov't run and it too needs reform.

And yes our's is gov't run and it too needs reform. If you're working here in the US a substantial amount of hours per week you are entitled to health insurance. It is the company you work for's responsibility to offer plans. Some companies do not offer this regardless, but there are many private healthcare companies that do. There is also blue cross/blue shield, medicare, ect. There are many options. You pretty much have to not care about having coverage to not have it here in the US. The only issue, if you can call it that, that some people have with it is that you have to do something in order to have access to the worlds best health care. I agree that the gov't should be able to subsidize PART of it for people who are just screwed, but an entire state run system is an extreme answer, and something only a small pool of people here in the US need. It all boils down to the fact that people don't want to be charged higher premiums to cover their obese neighbor that doesn't work and needs $1200 worth of prescription drugs per month. Reform is one thing, complete overhaul is another. Capitalism is the answer to the healthcare system's problems.
Author honeypear
Okay I can see your point. What about the cost of prescriptions? Some say they are over inflated??
dell00
hi, sorry to read about your situation, but I hope you will be stronger and better for getting through it. If your interested in progressing to face to face interaction: 1. You could google terms like meetup / discussion + your city and take a look to see if there are any like minded people in your area. 2. You could also check to see if your city has any free seminars that cover topics you are interested in. Many of these will have question and answer sessions which you could use to practice your public speaking. If nothing else you can sit next to someone in a seminar and see if there is an opportunity to strike up a conversation on the topic. For the first suggestion I would also suggest trying to do a more thorough search for groups with some participation history; its the net, so you should be a bit careful. If your still looking to stay with written communication for now, you should do what lonesock is helping you do. Find an active forum and just post your opinions and discuss the merits / demerits of your perspective. Take care
