sunflower89
Just out of interest.. Does anyone have experience with moving from the US to the UK? How long did it take to get a visa, were there any complications, etc. We keep saying "just got to get a visa so wont be very long now" but I know it still could take a while :/ Long distance relationships kinda suck. desertsun09
Hi, Depends on what kind of visa you are applying for though. I'm American but having been living in the UK. I came over on a student visa (which only took about a month to get....not hard at all, but you have to pay for school though, lol). While on a student visa over here my Tier 1 visa (right to work in UK for 3 years) was finalized. It took about 10 months until I had the visa in my hands. Tier 1 is a long, complicated process, and its very hard to get this kind of visa, but let me know if you want more details. For fiance, spouse, partner visas, the wait is not that long and from what i hear from my friends that have gone through this, it is nothing like the Tier 1 process. If you are sponsored by a company, you are looking at roughly 1 month wait. Best of luck!!

Author sunflower89
Thanks for the help guys. We are (well, I am) still young so not looking to get married or engaged yet so we'll see.. He's doing a post-grad degree at my Uni so he'll be getting a school visa and then I guess we'll apply for something more permanent when he's here!
