What is with this!?!?!

Recommended Posts

Hey all

About three weeks ago I decided to start seriously trying to lose a big of weight and tone up as summer is just around the corner in my hemisphere!

For those three weeks I really upped my fitness programme. I had previously been going to the gym about 2-3 times a week and eating lots of unhealthy food. For the three weeks I went to the gym 10x a week (seriously) and cut out most junk food.

My biggest weakness is the past is coke which I went thought about 1.5 litres a day! I cut that out almost completely during those three weeks.

Anyway this morning I went to weight my self, all excited about the weight I must have lost .... however .... not only had I not lost weight i had actually managed to PUT IT ON!!!!!!!

I am so disheartened!!

Why am I just not losing any weight with all that trainning and eating healthy?!?!

I feel like the only option left it to starve myself!!

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to actually lose some weight? Or am i just a lost cause?

You're defiinitely eating more than you burn.

What's your daily caloric intake?

If you're trying to lose weight, starving can only get you so far. Yeah you will see the scale go down but you're going to lose mostly water, and then you start eating again, you're going to gain back what you lost.

Thanks for your comments everyone ... But im at my absolute witts end here!!!!!

Im working out every day, sometimes twice day and have even invested in personal training sessions where I work so hard I cant walk for a few days afterwards.

Im taking a weight loss shake before I work out and am eating better than normal yet the scale is skyrocketing!!

Why is this happening!?!?! My clothes are so tight and I look disguting. I cant bear to look at myself in the mirror anymore.

Im seriously depressed over my weight.

What else can I do?!!???

Are you eating 5 smaller meals or a couple of big ones a day? What are you eating more of carbs or proteins? What is you calorie intake? I suspect most of you clothes issue is in you "Bottom" where you putting on muscle quickly before lossing much fat. If your dong the above correctly, just give it some time. Throw way the scale, they make people do unhealthy things, like weight loss shakes.

You are probably eating too much. For all that exercise you are doing to actually lose weight you would have to starve yourself..and then you wouldn't have enough energy to work out!

It's VERY easy to not realize your diet is making you gain weight/or you are eating too much. And you have the mentality that since you are working out constantly you can eat more and still be "okay." No you can't do that. You still have to watch what you eat (decrease calories) AND work out.

My other thought is that you are working out too hard and gaining muscle. And you will burn the heck out of yourself and destroy your body with all that exercise. The best way to lose weight is to decrease your food intake and do MODERATE exercise. (cardio 5 times per week for like 30-45 minutes, weight training 3 times per week).

That is my work out routine. Plus I also try to eat healthy (whole grain foods) and protein shakes. (muscle milk light).

Also weight loss shakes are so unhealthy and actually hurt you more then help. They have a massive amount of sodium and fat which could be making you retain water. Switch to a protein shake to assist you in weight loss. It will give you more energy to work out and kill your hunger. It's called "muscle milk light" go buy it! Throw out all the weight loss/low carb/diet fad foods. They are nasty and unhealthy.

Good luck!!!

How long are you working out. I believe 45 min (of actual workout) 3x a week is optimal for a beginner.

How hard is your aerobic workout? On the road, my heart rate is around 145-165 BPM (86%-98% MHR) anywhere from 1.5-2.5 hours at a time. Indoors, my heart rate is around 135-150 BPM (80%-89% MHR) for 1.5 hours.

Percentage-wise, what is the ratio of fat in your diet?

You could try some interval training. On the road, it is hills, freeway overpasses, and crazed dogs. Indoors, it is temporarily (30s-1min) increasing the resistance followed up by low-moderate intensity intervals.

When working out, there is usually a long delay before seeing results. Nervousystem improvements occur at 2 weeks. Muscle improvements occur 6-10 weeks. Cardio improvements occur >14 weeks. Joint and ligament improvements take even longer. I think you should worry about weight loss last.

Bad genetics and/or bad diet.

You need to burn more calories than you consume if you want to lose weight.

Also, stay away from simple sugars. If you are still eating any junk food or drinking any soda at all you are cheating.

Eat quality meals 5-6 times per day. If you want a meal replacement supplement I would take Syntha-6 or NitroCore 24 over Muscle Milk Light. They are cheaper and have more fiber.

Post up your typical diet so people may critique it.

Bad genetics and/or bad diet.
Three weeks is too soon to draw any conclusions.

We also don't know if there is any consistency with how she weighs herself.

She should weigh herself in the morning, on an empty stomach, and with the same clothes (weight-wise). She should also record the weight somewhere like a calendar.

It has been 5 weeks so far for her increased workouts and dieting. Even before these past 5 weeks she was working out 2-3x a week.

Anyway, it is hard for anyone to help when you don't post your weekly workout routine and diet.

I compared the lables for Syntha-6 and Muscle Milk light. Basically MML has less carbs, less sodium, less calories, less cholestoral and more Potassium. (but Syntha-6 does have about 2 more grams of dietary fiber per serving)

Also the biggest difference is that the serving size for Syntha-6 is only one scoop and MML is 2 scoops. That basically means that you get more powder and can put more water in it for the same serving size. I used something where the serving size was only one scoop and I could barely fill the shaker with water. It didn't leave me feeling full at all. It was just watery.

Even though it cost more, I would buy MML. You can get discounts if you order it offline or if you get a discount card through a health food store.

Just to clarify, most protein shakes aren't meal replacements, so don't expect them to fill you up. They work as a supplementation for muscle repair.

I use Optimum Nutrition Whey which compared to MML is cheaper, but I'm getting a good amount of protein (24g per scoop). I don't expect it as a meal replacement, but I make sure to alway drink it after my workouts so my muscles don't catabolize.

OP, I hope you come back and update us on your progress. And please post your nutrition info.
