sunnie23
are men capable of playing games? last night i was out with friends. my new guy and his friends met up with us. we haven't defined the relationship yet, as it's only been about six weeks and seems too soon. his best friend introduced me to someone, and yelled very loudly "this is sarah. she's my friend's girlfriend." then, he poked my guy on the shoulder and said "this is him. she's his girlfriend." at the time i was confused as to why my guy's friend was "showing me off," but now i'm thinking, perhaps it was some sort of test to see how i'd react? any thoughts???? Arabess
Whereas, there is no way of knowing if the guy you are dating put his friend UP to it....I think it's a pretty good indication that he is ready to 'define' the relationship and has probably discussed it with his friend. I wouldn't take it as a game.....so much as the way men are sometimes inept at verbalizing in a way which makes sense! LOL!
Author sunnie23
any ideas on how i can bring up the big definition talk gently, without scaring him off?
Arabess
"this is him. she's his girlfriend." You didn't say how he reacted when his friend said it. I'm assuming he took it well...since he didn't correct the statement once it was said (or actually twice). So, next time you see him....in a joking spirit.....point at yourself and say "This is me, I'm your girlfriend.". Unless you really do want to have a big defining dialogue, I think 6 weeks is sufficient for you to ASSUME you are his girlfriend anyway.
Author sunnie23
well the thing is we're both very busy and we only see each other once a week and talk a few times more than that...so i guess i don't feel like i have any right to title myself, although i would like to. his reaction was that he smiled at me, he definitely didn't correct the guy. thanks for your insight! i appreciate it!
