TaraMaiden
yes. Three people in my work have had it, and they shut three schools completely, in our county. Hints, guys: Microbes like this are not so much airborne, as transmitted by contaminated hand contact. Whilst breathing in somebody's cough or sneeze is not a good thing at all, holding the hand they just coughed or sneezed into, is worse. have antibacterial disposable cloths to wipe surfaces and keep her hands clean. best of luck. poor wee thing...... Author hotgurl
The swine flu seems to hit kids the hardest. Did your daughter get the shot? she didn't get the shot. They were supposed to but ran out and postponed the clinic. But the way it is going through the school it won't matter when they finally get it. She still has a temp and sounds terrible. We got a ton of movies for her to watch today. The kids have 1/2 day today and no school Monday so hopefully by Tues she will be better.

It is spreading like wild fire. Hi HG. I'm sorry your little one is sick. I've had the week from H*** myself. All 3 of my kids had it. Well it was not confirmed but I'm pretty sure that it was swine. The schools in my area are seeing a ton of kids out. My kids were back to normal after about 4 days. Their temps went up and down.. and then broke. Our middle school has 700 students. On Monday 640 were out. This is a nightmare.. and to think I was not worried to begin with. Hope your little one gets better quick. Force fluids and rest. Hand washing and lysol. Infact, I have inhaled so much lysol this past week.. my lunds hurt. Take care. Mea:)
redfathom
Oh, I hope she feels better soon!!! Poor things. I am waiting for someone at work to get it, with 170 people it's only a matter of time I suppose.
KikiW
It really has made the rounds, my daughter and I both got it this week. She had a fever going from 100-104, meds would settle it down a little, mine went from 100-103 and fluctuated wildly. She seems back to 100 percent, I have some sinus drainage but otherwise my muscles just feel "tired". After I finish on the computer I am probably going to lay down and take a nap for a bit. Good news: I can't get it again and it wasn't as horrible as they said.

Are the school officials doing anything to decontaminate the school or anything?
threebyfate
I'm sorry to hear this. One thing to keep in mind is that if anyone comes down with the flu, they're calling it swine flu since it's not flu season. I hope she gets better soon. Keep her as hydrated, as possible, whatever water she can hold down.
pacific84
Apparently the body's own immune system reaction worsens the effects of the disease, and the stronger the immune system the worse the reaction which is why it's more dangerous for young people.
ann09
My 7 yr old daughter had it for one entire week. Assuming it was H1N1 since it's not flu season yet. She had a fever everyday for about 6 days. White as a ghost - horrible cough - runny nose - muscles hurt. It was awful.
