redfathom
I feel so sick, all the time I hate it!! I have been to the doctors three times in three years for stomach problems, with out testing they always diagnosis me with either GERD or IBS. Maybe I have those, but I don't know for sure. After every meal I get a headache, nausea, heartburn w/ belching, need to urinate w/ frequency, very tired, trouble breathing w/ fast heart rate. Today I also have gurgling and cramping. I went to the doctors again on Friday and in 15 minutes he told me that I have GERD. I told him I have already tried three med's for heartburn and none work, Prilosec, Pepcid, and Tums. So the guy told me to take both Prilosec and Pepcid together for the next few days, and see how that does. I was so frustrated I started to cry in the phamacy. Guess what....they're not helping, I feel so sick. This morning I tried some ginger, now I feel awful. I mean everything gives me heartburn, water, not eating, eating. Last week I had awful heartburn from a PB&J on wheat. Next day for lunch had Chicken and fruit, again, heartburn...I am literally scared to eat. I see the GI tomorrow, I don't know what to expect and I feel like I have to fight to get any medical treatment. I am thankful that I can go to the doctors. Any advice? Suggestions? whichwayisup
Get tested for allergies, also ask them to test you for candida. You could have food allergies and that's what is bugging your stomach. Another thing they might do is give you colonoscopy to make sure you don't have diverticulitis or something else. Anyway, ask the Dr. Write down a list of questions so you're prepared for the apointment.
Author redfathom
Thanks. I did have a colonoscopy, blood tests, stool tests about a year ago, all normal. But things are much worse now. I did another blood test Friday and have to do another stoll test... I really want an Xray of my intestinal area, scan of my gall bladder, endoscopic test, test for bacteria, colitis test, etc. I want the whole nine yards done. I want to know what is wrong and if it is just heartburn, then I will know. But I hate being told I have heartburn with out them testing. When the DR pressed on my stomach I had pain as well as a gurgling when he pushed in certain area's.
whichwayisup
Then don't give up and make sure they do ALL the tests YOU feel you need. Don't let them tell you it's in your head!
JamesM
Get tested for allergies, also ask them to test you for candida. You could have food allergies and that's what is bugging your stomach. Ditto on this. My wife has had nausea for a few years. For her some days are good, others are not. She was tested for food allergies and they found that she was allergic to some foods. There are some foods that if she eats then, she experiences worse nausea. She was also told that she had candida. She has a friend who was tested and had even more severe symptoms. If she eats a pizza, then in a half hour, she will vomit it up. BTW, you don't work the night shift, do you?
GorillaTheater
If I remember your story correctly, you had some very significant surgery earlier this year and have had ongoing job-related difficulties since then. Could it simply be stress?
Author redfathom
WWIU, yeah. They already tried to tell me it's in my head before I had brain surgery. I will fight them to actually prove it's not something in my stomach. James, I don't work night. I do wonder if it's an allergy. I mentioned this, but will bring it up again with the GI dr. I am tired of feeling so sick! Gorilla, yeah you remember correctly. I don't think it's stress because stress causes me to get diahrreah (sp)...Sorry for TMI.

sporadic_moods
You may need to be tested for Crohn's disease.
JamesM
Assuming you still have stomach problems... If you take any vitamins or medications, then stop them one at a time. See if anything changes. And don't do more than one at a time. Even if it is "just" a vitamin or herb supplement, quit it for a few days and see if your problems disappear. I know of someone who had nausea every day for a few years, and one day she wondered if it was her vitamin. She quit it and the nausea disappeared. This was after being tested for every type of stomach disorder.
mark982
great idea james! see if this helps.
sally4sara
You may need to be tested for Crohn's disease. It does def sound like it is this. I've had two friends who complained about all the same things the OP listed and it turned out to be Crohn's for them both. It has hereditary tendencies; ask some relatives about their medical history too and see what you can turn up.
