Is this considered a Self Concious/esteem issue?

There's a guy here that i work with, he's loud, boisterous, sometimes we get rude customers or difficult customers who call in. If someone is

slightly rude to him, it offends him, he turns into a mouse, it bothers him and keeps talking about it afterwards for sometimes an hour afterwards. "do you think he was mad at me?" "I tried helping him out"

 

this guy is also easy to make fun of people here at work but if

someone makes fun of him, he gets defensive and will make an even

"meaner" comment towards that person.

 

Would you call him self concious? I'm trying to figure him out.

Sounds like it. And I know it's cliche'd, but it also sounds like he likes to make fun of other people to make himself feel better about himself. Unless, he's genuinley joking around and doesn't mean to make the other person feel bad or belittle them.
