angie2443
We, my husband and I, are thinking about getting a family membership at the gym. I'm feeling very indecisive about this. It would be $70 per month unless we can qualify for a reduced monthly fee which I doubt we can. Some reasons for joining are: 1. We can work out and have our kids watched because the family membership includes child care while you work out. 2. My husband has become a couch potato and going to the gym would be healthy for him. 3. Since the kids would be watched, my husband and I could have some time together swimming, working out, or playing basketball. Some reasons not to join are: 1. It cost $70. We'd have to eat a lot more beans and spagetti. 2. There is a good possibility that my husband would loose interest after the first couple of weeks. 3. gas money to get to the gym. 4. I could just work out at home. Please help me make up my mind. Thanks:).
Meaplus3
Well as a long standing YMCA member, I would say go for it. If your are going to use our membership that it's well worth the money. Also, if you have kids.. the savings are great with regards to swim lessons, ballet classes, and all those fun thiings. Oh and there are a ton of hot men in the workout room. Mea:)
Author angie2443
Oh and there are a ton of hot men in the workout room. Mea:) LOL! Last time I joined, (this was years ago) all the men there were 60 years or older. They were in great shape though! Maybe it was the time I worked out. Anyways, if there are cute guys at the gym that were thinking of joining, it is another reason to join:).

Look at it this way, how much do you spend on movies, entertainment, going out to eat and what not on the weekends? I would wager it easily surpasses $70. And it's not like beans and spaghetti are bad for you... in fact they are great foods to eat before a workout. I used to work for the YMCA actually. I was a lifeguard and I taught swimming lessons. I loved working there, I loved the environment. Since I have nothing but good experience from the YMCA in the year or so I worked there, I can only recommend going for it. I think you'll be suprised at what all you gain from a family thing like that besides an extra $70 bill at the end of the month. If not at the YMCA, then atleast somewhere else

My Y is filled with 30 somethings that are hotter than heck. Man.. I break out in a cold sweat everytime I go there. But, really the YMCA is great. So nice for family's and with so much to offer. Hey, the village people liked it too.:lmao: Good luck. I'll leave you with this. It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A. Mea:)

on edge
+1 for the "Y." I have been a member for over 5 years. I enjoy the more relaxed/family atmosphere that it has compared to other gyms. My only complaint is all the little "Y Winners" on Saturday, but it's better than seeing a bunch of meatheads or 20 somethings just hanging out as is typical with most gyms.
