Excercise when you are starting to get sick?

Recommended Posts

I have flown through this flu season without even a sniffle. I have a pretty good immune system. Then today..I had a sniffle. I feel kind of run down. I think I may be getting sick. So my question is. When you are starting to get sick is it better to hold of on exercise or continue as normal. I train about four or five times a week...for an hour at a pretty high intensity. In the past I have found that a good workout leaves me feeling better when I am off...but is better to just rest?

Any thoughts, experiences, or ideas are welcome. I would also love to get a personal trainer's or medical opinion if possible. So if you work in those fields...please help me out.

Load up on Vitamin C and D.

Brisk walking, and if you can't go outside, go up and down your stairs.

Anyway, listen to you body. If you are feeling weak, and really not up to exercising, then don't do it. It'll just make you feel sicker..

Rest when your body tells you to. That's important and also drinking alot of water, eating fruit, veggies and some chocolate!

It won't kill you to take a day off, DI. Everyone needs rest --- in fact, allowing your body to recuperate, and respecting its need for rest, is just as essential as eating right and exercise. So, take a nap. Drink lots of water. Take some vitamins.

Don't you have anyone that takes care of you when you're sick?? :)
