relationship classes, not counseling?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of or taken Pairs classes?

There is an 8 hour class near my house in January for couples only.

This place only does it twice a year.

I am thinking of taking it, but not sure if it is just fluff.

The phylosophy behind it is at pairs.com.

it actually looks pretty cool - it's impressive that they make it a classroom experience; it looks very professional and fun as well.

i hope you get to go even if your wife does not want to .

We are both iffy about it.

We are talking about making it a whole weekend thing. (it is on a saturday)

Instead of going and coming back home, we would stay in that town overnight and the next day.

Then it would be more valuble then the class alone would be. (it costs $225.00)

Sounds interesting. If you do go, it would be great to hear what you think about it. Maybe it would help other LSers! I know that a therapist I respect thinks the world of Virginia Satir and these guys quote her stuff.

Might be pretty cool, especially if you make it part of a romantic weekend.

Hey Steve..

I know a couple who went to a thing called Retrouville.. It takes place over the weekend. They were on the verge of divorce. They only went because the mediator for their case "suggested" they go. It worked for them. She resisted because she thought it was going to be a religious thing (I think there was priest there). She said it lightly touched on religion but the major focus was their relationship. She recommends this every time she finds out someone is have problems.

Also something that has happened near me is a thing called Marriage Encounters. I can give you the sites if you like. Just PM me.
