Okay to block parents on facebook?

Is it okay to block my dad on facebook? I know he's on there because he's on my cousin's friend list but I don't know if he knows that I'm on there and, to be honest, I would rather keep it that way so thought I would block him as a pre-emptive measure. The last thing I want is a friend request from him because I wouldn't feel able to refuse.

when i first read this my reaction was like, of course.. but then, would you avoid him at a party? :lmao: i mean, specifically, why don't you want him to see your facebook page?

okay, before you answer, ill say this.. if your young, and hes still got some type of control of your social life, then yeah, block away! but if your an adult, then there should be no shame in your decisions.. drunk or silly as they may be!

What I did was add my parents but customise their settings so they see only a "limited profile". They can't see any wall posts, can only see selected photo albums and so on.. That seems to keep them happy. I don't know how well you're dad knows facebook but my parents don't seem to notice I've done it. It is ok to block you're parents too, I'm not trying to hide anything from mine I just got sick of the interrogations everyday ("Whose this boy leaving posts on you're facebook, ooooo, is he you're boyfriend".)

Are you underage? Do you still live with your parents? If so, then you should not block him. As a parent, he has the right to know what's going on in your life.

If you are an adult living on your own, I'd block away!

hmm tricky one!!

If my parents did go on, then I'd 'befriend' them, as well, I'm an adult .... or block them... whatever I want.

FB didn't exist when I was at school... but if it had, I know the sort of stuff I'd have put on there and I definitely wouldn't have wanted them as my friends... I think I'd have done as a pp said... befriend them but limit their access.

Anyway... you shouldn't have anything too discriminating on there... you never know who's looking!!

as a parent if my child blocked me - i would be very suspicious

saying that i have been warned to stop leaving my 12 year old messages saying " love you baby" lol
