I just had a conversation yesterday with my wife who is leaving me for the "freedom" of a single person (after 9 years of marriage and 3 kids). It has been going on for a month and a half, and yesterday she confirmed that she is starting to date other people. I have been very supportive (doormat) until now, I told her yesterday that I will not sit by while she sees other people. She even wants the option of having sex with them. I was making my case as to why she should re-consider and give us a shot just one more time, but she stared at me the whole time, and said she "felt bad" for hurting me, but she is not changing her mind. We had to go together to our daughters Christmas party tonight, and afteward she left to go out, I am certain with another man. I know my day is coming when I post this exact story, so it is really helpful right now, it really gives me hope. I just hope the excrutiating pain I am feeling will somehow go away, soon. It is like nothing I have ever been through. Thank you for the uplifting post. Hang in there buddy. Its going to be a rough road, but it does smooth out, I promise. Tell her that you aren't going to sit by and let her go 'try' other things (aka people) and that if she wants to go, she can go but don't expect you to waiting for her, or to take her back when she realizes she's making a HUGE selfish mistake. Let her know that you plan on talking to a lawyer. That's all you have to say.. Might be enough to scare her, or make her stop and think about what she's doing to you and the family unit as one. 2.50 a gallon Posted December 19, 2009 Share Posted December 19, 2009 I've seen it here WS leaves BS, BS is in the pit, and then BS meets somebody new, and the consensus from other posters is to tell them not to date. My question is why? In my case I was like some of the others on this board, deep dark depression, no hope, everything is lost. And then there was this pretty face letting me know she was interested in me. In a flash my life was turned around, there was hope, there was a sun. She was a lifesafer, I jumped out of the pit and once more walked with the living. I know it was a rebound affair and it didn't last long, but in that short time I grew another pair. The added bonus, was I got to see the XW grovel when she found out she had competition and wanted to come back. And that seems to happen more than once.
