Island Girl
Any opinions? Some like them some don't. And even for those that do - There is a range in "athletic". I am one of the ones that LOOOVES. My guys are athletic in a certain way though - a bit bulkier - think American Football or Hockey. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm YUMMY.
Arabella
For me, "swimmer" athletic is what I favor: well developed chests, strong arms and legs, but not overly bulky. My most recent ex was more of a "ballet dancer" athletic: relatively small frame, very lean and somewhat muscular (he was very proud of his body too - with good reason)... but let's just say that as much as I loved him, his looks just weren't the thing that I liked him for. He did have nice shoulders though! I think the vast majority of women like men that are at least somewhat athletic, and dislike massive body-builders. Anything in between extremes comes down to personal preference really. Arabella Edited December 15, 2009 by Arabella spelling!
Ross PK
All women have different tastes. But I think most women would like their guys to have at least a bit of muscle, but not so much that they look like a body builder.
Miko
My 'professional' opinion is that women are genetically programmed to like a buff(or "strong") dude and they don't really have much choice in the matter unless of course they have had an 'experience' with that type of guy that left them jaded. That's what I told myself when I was buff back in the day and it sure seemed to be the case then.

AND - some body builders use steroids... and we all know what happens to the nether regions when a guy takes steroids.

Ross PK
This has inspired me to make a similar topic, as I'm curious about something.
Love2love7
I like mine with muscles. Nice toned big shoulders, back and arms. MMMM.. I've had ex's who were lean and others who were muscular. I ended up marrying a body builder and I LOVE his body. There's nothing that can make you feel more secure than a strong man by your side =)

Author Glenguy
Good points, but I wasn't necessarily referring to body building and being buff. I was inquiring more about about energy, being agile, and having stamina, and and does that make a middle aged guy more attractive if he is atheletic has a younger looking body with a decent amount of muscle tone? Miko
Well hell yeah man! Personally I would lift weights as opposed to focusing on cardio & such b/c you can actually modify the proportions of your body to suit your liking. Plus it's pretty sweet when you see yourself starting to look like Rambo, even just a little! You'll get all those other benefits you mentioned from it as well. I think a middle aged guy absolutely should get in shape & stay that way. My dad started working out like a madman and taking all sorts of vitamins & supplements when he was about 45 and literally looked 10 years younger a year later. Author Glenguy
I already have a pretty well developed chest, arms, and legs from years of strenuous physical work. The only thing I really need to do is trim a little bit off my middle. Even at 47 I'm stronger than I was at 20.
xpaperxcutx
Abs. They don't have to be a chiseled as a bodybuilders but I really really despise flabs on a guy.
mark982
well i guess i'm screwed, after years of powerlifting--well i'm built like a powerlifter.
sally4sara
I don't go for the swelled up bodybuilder type. It looks like their having an allergic reaction to something! And once they've gotten to where they have to turn their body around to look over their shoulder or can't keep their arms from perm-akimbo - well what was the point in reaching that level? You're now just a larger, less mobile target hoping for a lucky landed punch in the event of a mugging. But then, I also don't go for the guy who looks like his chest is caving in either. Every time I've seen this I worry a good bout of bronchitis would kill the poor guy! Most of the guys I've gone for have had a natural build. Really, as long as you can help me move my couch - its all good.
