Found love abroad, need some input

Recommended Posts

Long story short, I was studying abroad and unexpectedly stumbled upon this girl who i have a great deal in common with. After about 3 months of dating and 2 entire months of living together, I concluded that this could be the one. Of course, except the fact that she is on the otherside of the world in Australia. I have had a couple other relationships before but I have never felt like this - the feeling of having a future with that person.

Although it felt like ive only spent a week with the girl, 5 months have past and I am now back home in the states. I have been talking on the phone almost everyday since the end of November and decided to do long distance because we discussed the fact that we do want to have a future. Here comes the complicated part, we decided we would see eachother twice a year and she might move to America after college. We were doing fine until today the issue of keeping this going came up. She was wondering which would result in a better chance of us having a future together. Whether to end this draggy 2 year long long distance relationship or to keep it for 2 years? What do you seasoned people think?

Do you think we should end it because stopping this relationship while we still truely love eachother is better than dragging it until we have no feelings for eachother anymore? Or do you think we should keep doing the long distance thing until she moves to America in a couple years?

2 years ago, I found myself in the same position as you and asked myself the same question - exchange, guy, now what? We decided to stick it out. It hasn't been easy, lots of obstacles, we see each other just once a year and there's still another couple years of this. But at this point, I already see how far we've come and there has been no sign of any feelings dissipating. My opinion is:

Que Sera Sera. If it's meant to be, it will be. But for that to happen, you have to give it a shot with confidence in both yourselves and just let whatever will be Be. So go for it!

Go for it.

My wife and I were in a LDR for four years while we were both at uni, then during internships, over three continents.

If it's strong enough, it will last.
