Veiws about Plastic Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I watched the Kennedy Center Honors last night with Sharon Stone assisting in a tribute to Robert De Niro. I didn’t recognize her with her plastic surgery - face lift… It seems so sad that some/many in the entertainment industry feel the need for these “enhancements”. As a consumer I get so turned off with the talking heads who get these augmentations that I turn off the TV or don’t go to a movie if I know these type of people are in them. Also, Sharon Stone is 51ish and she seems young to have that done.

I understand that Hollywood is not the real world, and many of these people are not normal – whatever normal is. How do others feel about plastic surgery and the media and/or plastic surgery in general?

Celebs like Pammie Anderson, Tara Reid, Kenny Rogers, Christa Miller (from the Drew Carey show) look creepy. Remember when Jennifer Gray got a nose job and lost her acting career?

I remain a firm beleiver that a decent and well skilled plastic surgeon is worthy of regard for his work. Be it a nose job , chin lift or other matters that need repaired. An endearing friend lost her left portion jaw - had to have it reconstructed and needed plastic surgery....was grateful a board certified Doctor was able to aide her.

Not a fan of those who carry an addiction for modifications , but most realistic and skilled Doctors prefer not to *overdo" but rather make sutble changes to a persons features or downsize when need be. Its a personal choice and sometimes a medical one. Far be it from me to tell someone else how to spend their earned monies. I'm sure the patients of these skilled physicians are well aware of the results they want and the risks . The big one being folks misconception of what it entails to make the decision , go thru the healing and live with folks less then pleasant comments sometimes.

I have not had plastic surgery but if I ever feel the need to in the future I will absolutely have it. What I'm not a fan of it catty women who talk sh*t about women who have had plastic surgery.

For some reason I think cosmetic dentistry is great, but Im not into face-lifts, bony work or nose jobs unless there are serious deformities

Theyre all equally superficial but I guess cosmetic dentistry is so mainstream I almost expect it of middle class people

The worst cosmetic procedures of all are botox and breast implants, those are ugly in the way tatoos are ugly

and fake tans and blonde hair*

You can keep fixing and fixing and fixing everything on the outside. But what it comes down to, is that you're not fixing what's inside of you.

Nothing will ever make me get cosmetic or plastic surgery. If someone needs me to be physically perfect, I'm better off without them. Aging and physical imperfections happen. Deal with it.

I don't have a problem with other people getting cosmetic surgery if it genuinely raises their confidence. The danger is only when it's badly done (which a lot of it unfortunately is) or becomes an addiction. I think in the future with advances in plastic surgery it will become so ubiquitous that those who are born unattractive and choose to stay natural will be viewed as antiquated. I'm not saying this is a good thing, but that's my prediction.

Most women who get plastic surgery aren't desperate for perfection, emotionally damaged souls.

For example, I am happy, confident and really have my sh*t together. I take care of myself, I'm athletic and toned. However, no matter ho thin I get I will always have large breasts. I assume that when I'm 40 and have had a kid or two my boobs won't be what they are today. I see absolutely nothing wrong getting them fixed at that time.

This is completely unrelated to "not fixing what's inside."

So what happens when you have those children and not only do your breasts change but so does the rest of your body, like your stomach, hips, thighs and skin texture? Do you fix it all?

For that matter, why not accept that no matter who you are, your body will change. When you hit your forties, wrinkles will set in. Do you then get those fixed? Fifties, more wrinkles, especially around the neck when wattles start to appear.

Where does it end? Why not just accept that these things will happen and be with someone who appreciates you from the inside, out?

Relax. Slow down.

Aging is normal, and I never said that I expect to have the same body, or face at 40 as I do at 26.

What I am saying is that I could see myself having plastic surgery on my breasts in the future, because for me, I can see this being a problem spot when I age. Staying fit and healthy are completely within my control, what happens to my breasts isn't.

It's nothing to get over analytical about, I'm only stating that this is a choice I could see myself making in the future.

And I am with someone who loves and appreciates me from the inside out :)

I don't know allina. This fixation on the external, is a never-ending sinkhole and is detrimental to every person.

Staying in shape is for many, many reasons, which includes the fact that it helps with emotional health, stress and vitality, as you age.

Getting cosmetic/plastic surgery is all about the superficial, which is a HUGE money-maker and does nothing for the individual themselves, but increase the fruitless search for eternal youth. Death is nothing to fear. It happens so enjoy your life while you have it.

I occasionally see women who are horrifically overdone. Stretched faces to the point their eyes look kind of asian, shiny skin, crazy big lips. Add to that too much makeup, unnatural hair color, too-high heels and too-tight clothes. I have to say that some doctor was extremely irresponsible with them and should be put out of business. On the other hand, the women are still out doing things and acting as if there was nothing to look at. Maybe that's their sense of aesthetics, and they are happy. Who am I to judge. I just hope they are happy. If not, I can't imagine the hell they have to endure.

Hm

Smaller breasts can look more graceful than hanging milkbags and they would look natural, but on the other hand it wouldnt be necessary to remain attractive either

There is a site called Awful Plastic Surgery that is a pretty interesting look at all kinds of plastic surgery and the people who have had it. Most of them looked perfectly fine before, and no so much so now.

As an aside, I have never seen a 'lip enhancement' that looked good. Most are just outright gross.

If you think thats bad just imagine how their husband or ex-husbands feel with all that wasted cash or alimony

With all the money wasted by their wives trying to look younger in vain they could have bought an actual younger woman

I don't completely disagree with what you said here.

But for me, it's a more simple issue. If I ever end up feeling like I need a breast lift/reduction I will get it done. It is not about fearing death or wanting eternal youth, it's about enjoying my boobs :)

Yes, I agree with this. However, small breasts are impossible for me to achieve.

I believe in plastic surgery as an " enhancement" but not as a method to combat aging. There's no harm in getting breast augmentation or liposuction but something dramatic like a lift or botox ( which can be very damaging- look at Lisa Rinna) should be done with extreme precautions.

Ask yourself why your boobs are so important to you, that you'd be willing to go under the knife for them.

Everytime you go under anaesthetic, there's a chance you won't come out of it. It also stays in your body for years.

I don't need to ask myself anything. It isn't about the importance of boobs, I chose boobs because on my body it's something I could see myself fixing in the future.

Either way, the OP asked about our views on plastic surgery, your reply was "nothing will ever make me get cosmetic or plastic surgery" and mine was "I don't have a problem with it and would consider it."

Our opinions differ regarding plastic surgery, and that's fine. You do not have to validate your view to me, as I don't have to validate mine to you :)

I wasn't trying to validate my views. Just standing by them and yes, I agree, we should agree to disagree. ;)

I had a nose job when I was 21, and I don't regret it at all. It made me feel a lot more confident. I had hated my nose for years, and it's such a relief to not have to worry about it anymore every time I turn to the side. The surgeon did a beautiful job.

:lmao: I think it's funny you think botox is dramatic, but lipo and fake boobs are not.
