flyswatter04
Some people say its better to love and lost then better then to love al all. What does that mean?
moimeme
It means that love will cause you to enjoy such wonderful highs that to not have experienced it is to have missed out on something wonderful. Which is, in and of itself, a massive understatement, but, hey, it's early and I've got stuff to do
UCFKevin
I dunno. Maybe in this instance, ignorance is bliss. Being in love is amazing. Having that love die is just about the most painful experience you can go through. I don't really know if it's worth it. If it works, then yes. It's worth the risk. I guess. I dunno. Having just been through this, I'd have to say...yeah. It is. It's worth the risk. It's worth the pain. But boy, the pain can be pretty awful. As Tommy Lee Jones said to Will Smith in Men In Black when Big Willie said that to him, "Try it."
dyermaker
Haven't you seen that one 70's show where a Newman Angel takes Eric on what his life would be like and he has the choice to have never loved Donna? Guess not, or you wouldn't have asked this. It's better to have lost. It gives you insight into relationships, and helps you understand how people interact, on your ultimate goal for a successful one.
cdn
The saying is: Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all (Alfred Lord Tennyson). It can be taken pretty much at face value: It is better to have had a love affair, even one that ends painfully, than to have never had the opportunity to have fallen in love at all. guest
i'm not sure i agree tho. if i end up lonely for huge portions of my life (or even up until the end) then i would say that it's better never to have loved. the pain can consume your life when love ends. i'd rather never have experienced the pain, however much the highs are fantastic. Fancy
Ditto to what Guest said. The pain I've experienced from loving someone FAR outweighs the benefits I've gained from it.
vixen
oh so true, i am sick of heart ache and want nothing to do with it ever again. But the point that dyermaker made gives me pause. Just pause nothing more. Vixen
