gopher
I'm looking to drop from a 34" waist to a 32" by August, so I look decent for the beach on my honeymoon. I have maybe 7 lbs I'd like to lose. Currently, I play tennis 3-4 times a week, and typically 90 minutes per time, sometimes more. I run a lot when I play. Do you think this is enough cardio? I can't run or use the cardio machines per my sports medicine dr., due to an ID band issue in my right leg. She has cleared me for tennis though, as long as I stretch before, and ice after. Also, I lift weight 3 times a week....and try to stay around 1600 calories per day. Thoughts on whether the cardio playing tennis is enough?
Meaplus3
If your worried that it's not, add a brisk walk a day 30 mniutes or more or use a treadmill. That for sure will get you the cardio you need. Then you should be already to sport that speedo in the tropics. Mea:)
Fitness Dude
1600 calories a day isn't much unless you have a very light build (120 - 130 lbs). If you play tennis that much and run as much as you say for 90 minutes, you're in caloric deficit for sure at the end of the day. Tennis is more than enough for cardiovascular training. You would lose 7 lbs in a matter of days.
threebyfate
gopher, it's difficult to say if your waistline will decrease 2" by a certain time, since it depends on where your body has stored its fat reserves. But if you maintain a calorie count of 1600 per day and continue your existing exercise program, guaranteed, you'll lose weight. One easy way to reduce calorie count is to stop all alcohol intake, particularly beer and replace any other liquids with water.
