CarrieT
I've always thought so. The 40-year-old George Clooney is way hotter than the 20-year-old George Clooney.
Boundary Problem
No. But the factors that women judge men upon tend to improve as they age. As long as men are passably attractive, the "draw" tends to be other things. not physical. The thing to watch for is the 'rate of deterioration'. If someone is aging gracefully - that is all you can ask for. If someone is in denial and doing botox, and other surgical things - then that would be a deal-breaker for me. I like my men natural. tigereyes1428
i think they do defo - the confidence and experience that a man gets over the years does it for me - especially if he is a father and in love with his kids that is very attractive to me
Nikki Sahagin
Physically no in my opinion, but I suppose in terms of character, men do tend to mature much more slowly so the maturity and experience of an older man is attractive. Would be perfect if you could transplant the older mans more mellow and sensitive personality into a teenager boys body!
threebyfate
It depends on the man. IMO, his personality will engrave itself onto his face, as he ages. A man who ages well, will be one where his laugh lines are more pronounced, where a bitter man, will age more on his forehead and frown lines. One thing that age does do, which is attractive to me, is that it can remove some of the baby fat off a man's face, so his jawline, brow bone and cheekbones become more pronounced, unless he's obese. If obese, this rarely happens, if ever. Pretty boys can be aesthetically attractive but most often, aren't sexually attractive to me.
D-Lish
No. I think some improvements take place from puberty to perhaps 28ish perhaps- but men start to deteriorate after a certain age just as women do. It's rare to see a hot man over the age of 40. Not that it doesn't happen, it's just rare to see.
shadowplay
No, in my personal opinion. I think men look their best 22-28 or so. Where he peaks in that range totally depends on the guy, but I've rarely seen men who I thought looked as good over the age of 28 as they did younger. I've also seen the rare guy who peaks even younger (Christian Slater, for example) because they start losing their hair very early or lead an unhealthy lifestyle. If you look at male movie stars, most peak in their 20s and sometimes early thirties: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson...etc. Their faces become less potent and defined as they age, due to faded coloring, weathering of the skin, loss of hair. Even little things like slightly thinner eyebrows make a difference. What I physically love about men is their potency, so that's a bummer. That said if they stay fit, there isn't much change in their bodies. But faces are what I mostly notice. That doesn't mean I can't find a guy in his thirties + hot or wouldn't date an older guy, but I prefer the way they look younger. Usually the guys over thirty I find hot look younger than they actually are. The actor in my avie, Justin Theroux, is about 32 in that pic, but he looks 28. Now if only younger guys and older guys could switch bodies, because young guys can be a major pain in the ass! Edited January 12, 2010 by shadowplay
xxxheartbrokenxxx
Yes, for sure - I have almost always gone for guys much older than me so I would have to agree that they do get better looking as they get older.
threebyfate
Come on Ladies: Robert Downey, Jr. - 44 years old Jon Bon Jovi - 47 years old Hugh Jackman - 41 years old albeit not my cup of tea for some reason. These men are cut, in top physical condition, and their faces have aged well.
shadowplay
Come on Ladies: Robert Downey, Jr. - 44 years old Jon Bon Jovi - 47 years old Hugh Jackman - 41 years old albeit not my cup of tea for some reason. These men are cut, in top physical condition, and their faces have aged well. I think Downey and Jackman are both very, very attractive. But they're exceptions to the rule, imo. I can only think of a handful of male actors who look as good in their 40s as they did in their twenties/early thirties. The pretty boys seem to age the worst. If a man's face relies more on its fleshy and/or pretty features than its masculine traits, it doesn't usually age as well. Jon Hamm is another hot man who probably looks as good now as he did in his 20s. Speaking of Downey, I just stumbled across this picture of him and his son, and you can already tell his son is going to be a looker in ten years: http://cdn.buzznet.com/media-cdn/jj1/headlines/2008/05/indio-downey-robert-downey-jr.jpg Edited January 12, 2010 by shadowplay

When he smiles naturally, he doesn't look as good as he does when he's got a more stoic look on his face. But he really, really suits the more stark look with his hair slicked back, with a suit on, etc. Take a look at him with his natural appearance and he's not quite as appealing. Even his mannerisms are different and not as appealing, since he doesn't have the same confidence level as his character, on Mad Men. It's like Christian Bale, same difference. But then, shadow, you and I are in different decades, so our tastes probably coincide less often than more often. Wow, his son is the spitting image of him. Apparently Downeys breed true! Payden
I'm 35 and last summer a cashier(older than me she looked) asked me if I qualified for the senior discount(50 or older) I was looking scroungy with my mustache, long hair and bristle hair on my chin, but still.. it sucked to realize that your baby face, boyish looks are gone. I was depressed.
