So far so good, have been eating fruits, chicken, rice, drinking water

I also have been running as well as lifting weights, Ive seen that my muscles in my arms have gotten a bit bigger but I can SEE the difference and im not stopping.

BTW I'm still tempted to eat a cholcate cookie or doritos or something of that nature like atleast 1 time a day or something.

How bad is that or is it ok?

BTW can I still keep drinking arizon green tea ( I love it) but havent dranked it in a couple of days, all i have been drinking is water..lol

Snack on something healthier like raw nuts, fruits, or low sugar snack bars. I usually reserve the chocoate cookies for my cheat day ( Sunday).

If you really want to see those abs quick, save the high frutose corn syrups for the weekends.

And Arizona Green tea have hidden calories. I really would try to skip the carbonated drinks for mineral water.

Hey there,

I have flat abs and this what my trainers told me to do:

1. Planks, planks, and planks.

Not only it increases your stamina, it also help built your back & abs muscles.

do planks at least for 5 mins, add weight if you must. do side planks too.

2. Bycicle crunches and reverse crunches

3. Squat (this really helps your lower abs and get the "V" that looks very sexy for guys). But you have to do proper squat and squat really really low.

So what you do is to stand against the wall, put your feet apart (shoulder lenght), 6 inches away from the wall, stick your butt up, suck your tummy, and start squatting as low as you can. raise your hand against the wall (not quite touching but close to it). Do at least 50 reps a day. If you do this right, you will have amazing lower abs. Once you are good at it, then add weight.

Be sure you really stick your butt up and put your weight on your heel. If you don't do this posture right then I don't think it does anything.

4. dead lift (also help those stubborn lower abs)

5. Burpee, push-ups, and Yoga

Just be sure you alternate (don't just simply do crunches). I think you will get fabulous abs in 6 weeks.

Kickboxing (the real one, not cardio) helps a lot in my case because we did 30 minutes drill of the most moves listed above and then kickbox to increase the heart rate. Crossfit is another program that I highly recommend. It works all kind of muscles and before you know it, you have a perfectly straight back, nice butt, and flat abs ;) - not to mention awesome stamina!

Coming from a guy with a terrible metabolism... the Men's Health Belly Off plan actually is really great. I was on it for about 3 and a half months and fell from 5'9 and 165 lbs with around 22% BF down to 5'9 and 142 lbs with about 10% BF and had abs for the first time in my life. Unfortunately then I moved back into residence, abandoned the plan completely and now 6 months later I'm back up to 165 lbs :p

Bingo thats what I need

Im 5'8 and 153.5lbs(as of an hour ago)and look thinnish, but I have a small belly from years of beer drinking

Im pretty sure I need to be around 140 to have a six pack. That sounds really skinny though, but I think Id feel healthier

I cant see any way of getting there without calorie reduction and a low carb diet in conjunction with the running Im doing

I think the plan runs around 2500-2800 calories per day... I dunno, I never expected it to work then gave it a try and it worked great.

I found out from a few family members that they felt I was too thin at that point but I was doing the one without a gym so didn't really go through any bulking up, not to mention I had more confidence (and to a certain extent, more success) when it came to women.

I think you could get some ideas from this thread for how to develop one big ab. It's a start.

Well, not to argue semantics...but it is one big ab...

Abdominal Success
So after losing a 3 year relationship I'm starting to feel better especially now that I'm motivated to develop my "6 pack".

Anyone have any advice, so far I have been doing anywhere fom 50-100 situps a day but i broken them down into sections morning and night. I also started to lift weights so far so good. But anyone with abs or close to it have an advice on what else I should do to speed up the process?

Thanks

Indeed doing crunches will help you develop your abdominal muscles, however diet and nutrition are very important as well (if not the most important) . You may have well developed ab muscles by now but if you have a high body fat percent, you may never see them. The key to actually seeing your abs is having a well balanced diet and nutrition plan. In time, you will have a lower body fat percentage. resulting in the "six pack" your looking for.

just stay motivated and dedicated and you will get to ware you want to be.

I'm 5'8". was 260lbs. in April 2009.

I'm now 220lbs.

Still need to loose about 20lbs I think.

I can see my oblique's though. :)

Mostly I followed the 5x5 plan for packing on as much muscle as possible.

Basically 5 set of 5 reps of the heaviest weight you can manage.

No cardio.

Lots of chicken, rice, veggies, oatmeal, eggs ect. & 3 protien shakes a day.

Got myself down to 240 that way.

Added 20min.s cardio after each workout.

realized I was spinning my wheels because I couldn't eat enough to build muscle & loose fat at the same time.

Switched to 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps with as heavy weight as I could handle then cardio.

Dropped to 230lbs. in about a month.

Switched to circuit training followed by cardio in the mornings.

Cardio in the evening & basically any time I could find 20mins. to hop on my treadmill.

Dropped 10 lbs in another month.

Each time before I switched my workouts I was at a weird sticking point where my weight didn't change for 3 weeks.

I could clearly see my muscles getting bigger but I stopped loosing fat.

The circuit training is really kicking my but. I make sure to rest no less than 30 seconds in between sets.

So far, I am not looseing too much muscle.

I plan on finding my abs again before summer.

I actually only do ab work once a week.

I was doing it every other day & the ab muscles actually made my gut stick out further & my waist bigger. (especially my obliques)
