Positive Affirmations- do they work for you? Any good ones to share?

Recommended Posts

Many self help books recommend repeating positive affirmations each day. I've tried in the past, but don't think I really stuck at it long enough, or with enough true conviction, to obtain any lasting results. So I'm going to give it another go. An obvious place to start for me is "I am happy in the present day and feel peaceful and healthy. I let the past go and live in the wonderful present. I am safe and loved for who I am in the present"...and so on

Have you tried doing this and has it worked?

Got any really uplifting statements I can add to my general list (obviously we all need our own tailor made ones too, so suit our own quirks) ?

Positive affirmations can work but they must be sufficiently repeated and internalized so they become part of a person's subconscious belief system. If somebody has always believed in scarsity, it will take a long time and lots of affirmations to convince the subconscious mind that there's suddenly enough money and stuff to make everybody happy.

At least they don't hurt. And the way the mind works, if you truly believe they will work...they will. And if you don't believe they'll work, all the tea in China won't bring you success with them.

1. My personal happiness depends on the suffering of others.

2. The first step is to say nice things about myself. The second, to do nice things for myself. The third, to find someone to buy me nice things.

3. Today I will rely on the language of love and understanding. If that doesn't work, I'll go back to intimidation and fear.

4. As I learn to trust the universe, I no longer need to carry a gun.

5. As I let go of my shoulds and feelings of guilt, I can get in touch with my Inner Sociopath.

6. I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia.

7. Having control over myself is nearly as good as having control over others.

8. I honor my personality flaws, for without them I would have no personality at all.

9. Just for today, I will not sit in my living room all day watching TV. Instead I will move my TV into the bedroom.

10. Becoming aware of my character defects leads me to the next step -- blaming my parents.
