How would you react if your ex contacts you on Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day)?

See... I speak these words.. and truly believe them, but would I honestly adhere to them? If Nicole came back to me... I don't know what I'd do...

I know what you'd do. You would tell her that you are a much better, and stronger man now. And you will not stand for her bullsh*t anymore. If she wants to treat someone like a dog, she needs to go out a buy one. Because you will not be there for her to walk all over anymore. Period.

I wrote down the last quote you told me to say IF by some sheer unlucky chance (which is 1/103406340753875383583723737 that she will) she contacts me.. "Oh, I see you finally came to your senses. That's funny, so did I. Don't contact me ever again... *click*" :D

Hahaha!!! Yes!!! That's perfect!!! Always better to be prepared!

Oh yeah, and karma is one hell of a b*tch. She will get what's coming to her... and it'll hurt worse than anything she's ever experienced before.

Haha, aawww! You are quite -able too Kelvin!!

Hooray! :)

You'd think so... but it's insane how much energy it takes to hate someone that you once loved. Indifference is the best way to go.

This is true...but at the same time, many people hold onto past relationships because they still hold onto the hope that their ex "still loves them"...but if you knew that your ex hated your guts and wanted nothing to do with you ever again, it extinguishes that hope...kinda makes it easier to move on, don't you think...?

I know what you're going to say...that if they still loved you, they wouldn't have left...but anywho, it's neither here nor there...whatever that means...

I know how that is. I actually think it's perfectly normal to keep yourself up at night wondering what you are going to say or do if you were to run into your ex (that's only if you are going somewhere where they might be).

I'm glad she wasn't there... because that would have stirred up emotions that you've already put behind you. As much as you'd like to have seen her, it's in your best interest that you didn't.

Exactly!! It can only get better from here!!

Yea...I know you're right about all this...for a minute, I was even tempted to stop by her house!!! Good lord, that would have been awkward...but I did stop by the 7-11 that I always went to by her house to get a giant Mountain Dew...it put a smile on my face...and then I went home...

But you're right, I really have been doing well lately, and it would have probably knocked me right about to the beginning...not a good idea when life is good as it is...

I do agree with you to an extent. I don't necessarily agree with the part about them not loving you if they break up with you. It all depends on the situation. My ex, for example, was not able to give me what I wanted out of the relationship. He felt it was best to let me go, so he didn't have to put me through anymore misery.

Now he wants me back again, for the third time. Funny how things change all of a sudden when you miss someone, huh?

That's FANTASTIC that it put a smile on your face!! I don't think you really understand what that means. For a long time, I wasn't able to look at pictures or listen to songs, or even drive by certain places because it reminded me of my ex, and it saddened me.

Just the mere fact that you are able to smile at things that once brought you joy, but ended in sorrow... means you are a lot further in the healing process than you probably realize. Way to go!!!!

This...is awesome...

Awwww!!! Drink some hot tea, that always helps me. And lots of cough drops. Also, you should make yourself some chicken noodle soup. The broth works wonders. And tons and tons of medicine. Stock up on some dayquil and nyquil. Try not to do too much, and avoid being outside for long periods of time. And REST!! Lots of rest!!

I know...I truly believe me and her did the "broken up in love" sorts of breakups...it was just a matter of right place, wrong time...but she was just very very very good at compartmentalizing her emotions and moving forward...and perhaps that is something that will eventually come to bite her in the ass...but oh well...

Now he wants me back again, for the third time. Funny how things change all of a sudden when you miss someone, huh?

Absolutely...

Hahah, it was actually the Mountain Dew that put the smile on my face. It's my most favorite-ist thing in the whole world.

I actually ended up doing the opposite as you...at the beginning, I'd envelop myself with music, pictures, and things that reminded me of her...eventually I became numb to their effects...and I guess now it doesn't make me quite so sad to hear the songs...

I know, I know. I'm a genius :D

Quoted for truth. :)

That's the hardest break up, in my opinion, to get over. Knowing that both parties still love the other. It's a hard situation to be in. But I truly believe that if it were to ever work out between the two of you... it'll happen. Maybe not now, but when the timing is right.

Haha!! It has entirely too much sugar in it for me. You know that Mountain Dew significantly lowers sperm count, right?! :lmao:

The day that him and I broke up, I listened to all of the sad songs and looked at all of our pictures. Cried the entire day. Then, I did what my mother always tells me to do. "Take a day off, have a good hard cry, then pick yourself back up by the bootstraps and get the hell on with life."

Such a caring woman :lmao:

Yea...but at the same time, the relationship seems like it happened and ended a lifetime ago...it's a strange feeling, that's for sure...

Hahah, mere wives' tales!!! And I've recently converted to Diet Mtn Dew... I gotta watch my girlish figure... :o

Some very sound advice...tough love is always the best love in my opinion...I've had my share of good hard cries, that's for sure...

So you're giving it another go tomorrow at happy hour? Hahah, nice.

Oh, definitely. When thinking back on old times, it feels like it was forever ago.... but the feelings attached to those memories are still extremely fresh.

I also think it's a strange feeling because we have grown so much since then. Things about us have changed.

 Diet anything is gross!

Are you that guy that orders a diet coke and the biggest, juiciest hamburger on the menu? I never understood that...

I think we all have. I also think there is a time and place for tough love. My mother was there for me when my ex and I broke up the first time. She had to literally feed me because I refused to eat anything. I lost 26 pounds! She was there when I was depressed and in desperate need of comfort. So the second time around, she wasn't so nice. It was sort of like one of those 'I told you so' type deals.

Tough love in that situation was extremely appropriate. I brought it on myself.

So you're giving it another go tomorrow at happy hour? Hahah, nice.

Yes!!! The girl i'm going out with drinks like a maniac, and it's alwayssss a good time with her.

I can see it already. We will go back to her mansion of a house and I will get lost and be stuck in some room for days. Like that guy in The Hangover :lmao:

Oh, absolutely...I've said this before on LS, but the breakup was the best thing to happen to me...looking back at all of it, everything I learned and all the changes I made were so important...and you're right, the memories eventually fade, but the feelings still linger for some time...

No...I'm the freak who gets grilled chicken breast with plain veggies whenever he goes out to eat...

But I do enjoy the delicious burger from time to time...mmm...burgers...

My parents primarily left me alone during my boo-hoo period...just let me do my thing, mope around a little, eat half a bite of food and then go back to sleep...but then again they were never really involved in any of my social or personal matters of that nature...but she was the first one that I had introduced to my family...

My friends are big fans of the tough love...they'll tell it like it is without wasting any time or sugarcoating the truth...and I appreciate that from them...

Well, I think I'm going to head to bed...have yourself a good night and have fun tomorrow! :p

Definitely!! I'm glad I went through what I did... even though it was one of the hardest things i've ever had to go through. I've found out a lot about myself, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. I'm very grateful for the experiences him and I had, and it only makes me more certain that with the right person... it'll be great!

Haha, I could never keep up a diet. More power to you if you're able to resist the burgers!

Guys are different for some reason, when it comes to family. I got really drunk one night after my ex broke up with me, my dad called me and I started crying and asking him why men sucked so much. It was the saddest thing ever... my dad kept stuttering cuz he had absolutely no idea what to say. Then he eventually said he had to go... after I talked his ear off for like a half an hour. He really had nothing to say. Poor guy. I shouldn't have put him through that haha!

As far as friends go... all of my girlfriends tell me things that I want to hear. They are of much better use to take my mind off of things, like going out. My guy friends, on the other hand, definitely tell it like it is. I love them for that, also. Sometimes I throw a temper tantrum when they say certain things, but they somehow understand why.

:lmao::lmao:

Rob would be the dentist... with the b*tch of a girlfriend who he totally stands up to in the end.

Paging Doctor F*ggot!!!!! :lmao:

Well, I think I'm going to head to bed...have yourself a good night and have fun tomorrow! :p

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh is all I can say.

Right now... this year... first year in many... February 14th is JUST ANOTHER DAY.

Don't want to ask anyone... don't want to do anything. I just want to live my life. I was thinking though, if she contacts me on V-day (which, again, I doubt she will ever contact me again - but the thought still popped in my head)... I don't know how I would handle it.

What about you?

I'll turn around, look for a mutual friend that I have with his current girlfriend, call said gf and say "Girl, you need to regulate your man. He's calling his EX girlfriend on a day that's supposed to be for COUPLES. Find anything wrong with this picture? I don't want to be bothered. Have a good one!"

Then sit back and... study for a test the week after. Maybe I'll have strawberry wine along with it.

I missed you, bro. I sent you an e-mail. It's awesome to see that you've established camaraderie w/ other Loveshackers and now, you really have THAT many people to talk to when you're still feeling the regress once in a while.

Re: your ex. She grew up with Lindsay Lohan? I hope it's not in poor form if I quote Kanye West's song "All Falls Down": But the people highest up got the lowest self esteem / The prettiest people do the ugliest things.

It doesn't get the whole context of the song, but well... those 2 verses serve my purpose.

Also, if I were near your area? On the 14th, they wouldn't bother us. Cuz we'd be at a pub killing the keg. Or something of the like. We're too damn busy to pay attention to them.
