Star Gazer
After months of nagging from my BF that I don't drink enough water, I recently started drinking more. Not a ton, but a LOT more than before. For reference, before the past few days, I'd drinking about 2 small bottles of water a day... 1 during my workout, and 1 throughout the day. That's it. Yeah, I know...dehydrated. Anyway, now I'm drinking about 5 bottles a day, and feeling GREAT! But the conseqence is that I'm peeing ALL...THE...TIME, annoyingly so. I'm wondering if I'm drinking too much/peeing too much, and if over time my bladder will...I dunno...get stronger? So my question to all of you is this: How much water do you drink, and how often do you pee?
alphamale
So my question to all of you is this: How much water do you drink, and how often do you pee? i would say i drink about half a gallon a day and pee around 4 or 5 times per day, roughly
Lauriebell82
I don't like regular water. The only time I drink it is when I work out and I drink a huge thing of water. It's an old bottle of Powerade Zero that I Recycled into a water bottle. I drink flavored water (non carbonated) with no calories and diet soda. I drink a ton of liquids throughout the day, mostly because my prescription meds give me dry mouth. I pee ALL THE TIME. I get frequent UTI's because sometimes I have to hold it. It's good to drink a lot but you do have to make sure that you can go to the bathroom right away because holding it can cause frequent UTI's.

melodymatters
For years I was convinced I was a diabetic due to frequent thirst and urination, but NO, I'm just a thirsty, peeing maniac !!!! I drink about a glass of water an hour during my waking hours and pee the same amount. I have always had to get out of bed to pee at least once. In general I just listen to my body and since nothing seems to be wrong, guess this is just the way my body functions ! Except for long car trips and skiing ( which I don't do, but know you do) I look at it as a welcome break from whatever else I'm doing ( except for the waking up to go part !) Lauriebell82
thats terrible L82 Yeah, it's a big pain sometimes. I just have to drink alot to counteract the dry mouth and to make sure I don't get dehydrated (which I get easily). So it's just a cross I will have to bare I suppose. Lauriebell, I think the combination of medications and lack of pure water is what's causing your UTI's. Your medications are probably acting like diruetics (since you get a dry mouth), and also they're building up in your body. Then your kidneys try to dump the toxins but you're not giving your body enough pure liquids to do this. This is very dangerous. Diruetics alone can give people bladder infections - this has happened to me and to a friend of mine. Diet drinks are also very bad for you and, in your case, you're making your kidneys work overtime. I've also noticed that some flavored waters have a lot of other stuff in them, too. Again, this puts your kidneys in overdrive. Unless you can get yourself off of the medication, please be careful and be extra kind to your body by drinking more water and less of the other types of drinks. So my question to all of you is this: How much water do you drink, and how often do you pee? The amount of times you have to pee should slow down. Right now, I think your body is in the process of replacing all the old fluids in your body and it's really happy to have the ability to do this. After awhile, this should slow down, but you will probably have times when you start going a lot again. I think it's a cycle. So, it's not really that your bladder needs to get stronger, it's a matter of how much water your body will eventually start hanging onto. I think it was Dr. Oz who said that the 8 glasses a day recommedation of water didn't come about because we need that much, it came about for some other reason. I think you need to just listen to your body and if you start feeling like you're drinking too much, then back off. I personally think that about 5 glasses a day is enough. If you search Dr. Oz's website, I'll bet you can find the information about water.

Oh, Lauriebell, I also remembered something else that may be of interest to you. It may or may not apply but is worth mentioning. I used to get bladder infections a lot. It got to the point that dr's were talking about surgery. Anyway, after a couple of years of this happening, I finally discovered that Margaritas were the things that were giving me these infections. To this day, I do not understand why, but I can only conclude that there's something in the mix. It's not the alcohol itself because that won't give me an infection. Only Margaritas. It's really irritating, too, because I love them. The reason it took so long for me to figure this out was because there was always a 2-day delay between drinking the Margarita and getting the infection - so I never pieced it together. When I was with my ex who was from England, my bladder infections would disappear when he was out of town for a week or more. We thought it was sex that was causing it at first. But I never went out drinking when he was gone so that was why I wasn't getting infections. I really took about 2 yrs to figure it out but I am so glad I did. I totally hate bladder infections. Not sure if this applies to you but it's something to look out for.

Not sure if this applies to you but it's something to look out for. I get them from sex and holding my pee. I've already established that pattern. I just keep Cranberry pills on hand for when they happen. But they are a pain, I hate them so much! As for my medication, I have to be on it the rest of my life so I have to deal with the side effects. My fiance suggested I buy lemon or some kind of fruit to flavor water with. I just can't drink it other then workouts. It doesn't taste like anything. I have tried to cut back on the diet coke because I know that stuff isn't the healthiest to drink. I just need to come up with some way to flavor the water in order to make it taste better.

But I've learned to like the waters that are purified - like our Ozarka water at work or distilled water from the store. Kinda helps. But, yeah, I understand about not liking it. My next option is iced tea.

make me believe
I drink a glass of water or a cup of coffee/tea every hour at work and I pee at least once an hour too. It's SO annoying, I feel like I'm constantly peeing!!

It's SO annoying, I feel like I'm constantly peeing!! Yeah, coffee does that to you. When I worked at 6 am I used to drink a massive amount of coffee and I would go to the bathroom like crazy! My office was in another section of the building also so I wasn't right next to the bathroom. It was such a pain!!!
e.clipse
I'm wondering if I'm drinking too much/peeing too much, and if over time my bladder will...I dunno...get stronger? when my physician scolded me for not drinking nearly enough water, he also explained to me that, when on significantly increases their daily water intake, they will be peeing a lot. his explanation was that when one doesn't drink enough water, the body goes into "dehydration mode" and begins to store whatever water one is drinking. as consequence, there is a lot of water stored in the body, which, when one begins to drink the adequate amounts of water needed, will need to be "flushed out." as a side note, he said this is why people often recommend those who are trying to lose weight to drink lots and lots of water--to flush out all of the water that has been retained due to prior water insufficiency, which adds them extra lbs on the scale. anyway, he said that once the body accepts and becomes used to drinking "a lot" (which is really just enough) water, the need to pee constantly should diminish. So my question to all of you is this: How much water do you drink, and how often do you pee? i don't like water. i drink like two of the small oz bottles (probably the same type you do) per day. i'm not sure how many times i pee per day, though...maybe 5? still, my water intake needs to be upped by much, much more, so when that happens (if ever...), it'll probably be more like 55. Satisfaction
Its such a relief to read this because I have been worrying. Sometimes I refuse to drink any water cos I can't stand the amout of times I end up in the loo.
Kamille
I love water and constantly have a glass or a bottle within reach. I therefore have no idea how much I drink. Maybe 2 liters (half a gallon) a days? I drink a lot more when I am at the gym (two small water bottles). I would say I pee every 2-4hours when at work or engaged in an activity and every hour or 2 hours when relaxing at home.
shadowplay
I'd say like 3 or 4 times a day.
Leia
4 - 6 times a day Star, your thread makes me want to take count of my pee sessions! I may do that starting tomorrow and will report back along with how many glasses/bottles of water I drink. Normally, I would drink about two bottles [600ml] of water a day, sometimes more. I think I need to drink more water. I can't say I don't like drinking water, I just don't drink as much as I should.
Author Star Gazer
I'd say like 3 or 4 times a day. That's how often I peed before upping my water intake. Both BF and doctor said that wasn't often enough.
Lauriebell82
That's how often I peed before upping my water intake. Both BF and doctor said that wasn't often enough. Well, the more liquids you drink the more you pee. It also depends on how many hours you are up everyday. 3-4 times per day doesn't sound all THAT bad, but if you up for over 12 hours everday (which I assume you are) then you probably aren't drinking a lot of liquids. Did they say what was 'often' enough? Now I'm counting 'the pees': 1. First one getting up in the morning 2. One before leaving for the office (and after coffee) 3. One mid-morning 4. One before lunch 5. One after lunch 6. One mid-afternoon 7. One before leaving the office (Can't stand being in public transport and needing to pee) 8. One before dinner and probably another one somewhere in the evening. 9. One before bed.

I guess if I had my own porta potty it wouldn't be so bad. I hate porta potties and unisex public bathrooms. I like clean bathrooms and my own bathroom is like a haven of cleanliness and calm to me. hmmm.... I might have a problem... But yeah, I can't wait to find out if SG's bf and doctor gave her an approximation of what 'healthy peeing patterns' might be. I'm like Melody Matters, my body feels fine this way, so I don't think I have a problem. And yeah, I do hate having to get up in the middle of the night to go pee. It's happened a few times lately, but every time alcohol was the likely trigger.
