moimeme
Something Vivian Lee just said raised this question for me. We've seen a bazillion fictional relationships - in books, movies, on TV. You name it, we've been indoctrinated. So which ones influenced you the most or would you like to emulate? I'll start this one off; leaving aside the great tales of passion restrained like Pride and Prejudice (swoon!) and The Age of Innocence, I'll go with the Helen Hunt-Paul Reiser team from Mad About You. They cared about each other a lot, had lots of fun together, and managed to get through their differences without major damage to either party. OTOH, I HATE the Everybody Loves Raymond dynamic where couples fight incessantly and have zero respect for each other.
Kat
Best Fictional people to describe us (doesn't mean it is accurate, but the best i could think of) Me and my partner have the same 'family' problems as in EveryBody Loves Raymond and we are very similar in characteristics as the couple off King of Queens I don't think I would ever 'like to emulate' a fictional couple no matter how 'perfect they look'. Trying to be just like a fictional person is something a shallow person would do. Someone who believes they have no self value, and nothing left to do but get their 'self being' from someone else. bark
So which ones influenced you the most or would you like to emulate? Nick and Nora of "The Thin Man" mysteries. They made even marriage appear fun. A classy and sassy couple.
Arabess
When I was young I read Gone With the Wind....always thinking the romance between Scarlet and Ashley was utterly 'romantic'.....till I lived it! Now, I have no role models.....
