Dating on SMS

I was wondering how guys and girls respond to SMS requests for dates.

For example, 'would you like to get lunch sometime?'

how would you respond if you knew/suspected the person asking was interested in you and

a) the feeling is mutual;

b) the feeling is mutual but you're really busy

c) you're not interested romantically but you would like the person as a friend; and

d) you're just not interested at all

My answers would be:

a) 'ok, let me know when'

b) 'ok. will have to be in a couple of weeks because i'm really busy right now.'

c) 'no problem mate, let me know when'

d) 'i'll let you know when i'm free coz i'm really busy at the moment'

It's quite confusing because most people I know hate the thought of rejecting someone, so they will say ok but will have to be some other time because i'm busy this week. or will say ok when? and then say that they are busy on that day. How in the world is anyone supposed to figure this out if people say yes when they mean no and no when they mean yes? this whole dating game thing seems to require a lot of reading between the lines.

I know i'm certainly guilty of contributing to the confusion - sometimes i even say yes when i mean no because i think the guy is really nice and i don't want to make things awkward if we bump into each other again, and if i can't think of a nice way to let him down.

I'm guilty of the same thing bunny....in every avenue of meeting men. I just can't hurt someone's feelings. So...I do something really wonderful like avoiding the phone for days on end!!! LOL! One of my 'resolutions' this year is to actually say what I mean, instead of being a wheeny wuss!
