here we go again

The most meaningful relationship of my life ended 9 months ago. And I am finally O.K with that. A few weeks back I visited a friend (of 6 years) in the Toronto area and her and I played around a little bit, and I told her that I wanted to keep things on the friend tip. I told her this knowing that it was a bad idea to have sex, but I went through with it anyway and we had a great time. She flew out here to the prairies where I live last weekend and we had a good time again (at least I thought). The night before she flew out she told me she wants us to put some real effort into making a "go" of things and that she is really into me. (This is where I hit the breaks). She wouldn't let it go and i really value her as a person so I told her that we could see where it goes. I thought I was being vague and somewhat elusive and i now found out she is announcing us as a couple to everyone!!! The last thing I want is another long distance relationship. I toiled in one for almost 4 years and we couldn't make it work. i don't want to try it again any time soon. How do I let her down gentle without losing her as a friend.

P.S. Never get intimate with a friend and expect it to stay as friendship....

When you crossed that line as her friend and then led her on, you ruined the friendship.

Ever heard the saying "You made your bed, now lie in it"? Basically, it applies. You've already lost her as a friend.

Well you haven't told her clearly that you are not interested in 'taking it further.' She obviously saw more in you, and there you are. I think you should tell her that maybe both of you misunderstood the situation.

Well yes, it might sound lame, but this is why you should save sex for the meaningful one(s) and act with friends like friends ;)
