Yeah i get excited sometimes :o lol:cool:

I know she is female (im guessing so!) But just as general info goes, women release testosterone too! Just men do 10x more!

Hmmmm...well I am 7% on the dot, and I am a trainer. I have another trainer who i work with and she is 4%. She is a marathon runner tho as well as a PT and is very healthy indeed.

The higher you are, the more unhealthy it is.

People generally measure their body fat % to be lower than it really is, but hey, if you want to tell everyone you've got a 4% body fat percentage because it makes you feel better about yourself, by all means, have at it.

There's one of those doohickey machines at my gym where you plug in some numbers, grab the handles, and then it spits out a body fat %. I get an error every time I use it (< 5)...I'm told that it's "lower than it can accurately measure" by the trainers at the gym, but I'm confident I'm around 10'ish or so...those insta-read machines and even calipers are really very rough estimates...so I don't give them much creedance...

Yes, you're right, high body fat is very unhealthy, but your body has trouble sustaining itself if you have excessively low body fat...fat is one of your body's main energy sources...

Not necessarily, what about those who are UNDERweight...1, 2% because of that?

And also, if you maintain such low body fat levels for extended periods of time, you will have A LOT of trouble maintaining your muscle mass...and it's kind of gross looking to be honest...without an alternate energy source after glycogen levels are depleted, your body has no choice but to start eating away at muscle...

That's why hardcore runners are often so frail looking...

A female with bodyfat of 4%? I don't see how that could possibly look good. I'm not sure it's humanly possible. Her monthly cycles would have stopped and she's likely to be suffering premature bone loss. I don't see how she could have the energy to run a marathon.

hey i was just sharing the info!! I dont disagree with anything that has been said here.

I dont think it looks nice at all. Her arms freak me out especially.

I was just making the point that there are people with low ranges who are fit and healthy, even after ATP is depleted and anerobic systems are used. It is dangerous tho, like is she crashed on a desert island with little food, she would surely die!!! Who am I to judge ger tho, she has been in this industry for 11 years! Personally i dont like it, and even at 7% myself i could still do with another 2 i think.

If this were true, then you'd probably be teetering on death...even competitition bodybuilders don't go that low...and if they do, it's probably only for the competition itself...excessive low body fat percentage is VERY unhealthy...

Low 10's would seem to be a more realistic number based on your workout frequency...unless you take the vitamin S...which certainly does help...

I was tested this last Monday and my body fat mass ratio is dead on 3%. I am not teetering on death. I bench 240. Squat 320. Curl 50's.

The amount of weight you can lift has almost no bearing on your body fat percentage, but ok...

And "tests", with the exception of the hydrostatic tests and "Bod Pod" (which also have a fair degree of error), generally have a pretty wide range of error on them (+/- 4-10%), depending on the type of test you use. Some of these tests will also grossly underestimate your body fat %. But hey, if you'd like to believe your body fat is that low, then by all means, do so. Just understand that these tests you take are much more useful in tracking changes in body fat % rather than the body fat % itself. They are just too inaccurate for that and make people think they have crazy low body fat %.

I have no doubt that you're probably in excellent shape, but my money would still be on the 8-12% range for you.

How could you accurately measure body fat? using caliper? I want to find out what my body fat is.

Calipers are fine. the gold standard is a blood test, guessing you don't need that though. (Hows the KM going?)

Awesome, I just responded in the other thread. So today, we were taught on how to defend so like punch punch and low kick. So I have to ensure that I didn't block the kicks with my hands (which I did in the beginning) so today, a lot of defense with thigh and shin. When I spar with the trainer, he kicked me a few times as example and I defended with my thigh (since he's too fast), damn, his kick (though soft) is like a rock jammed through my thigh.

So I'm very sure that I will bruise tomorrow. I love it, I want to continue. Much more practical than my kickboxing for sure.

3% body fat? You need to find someone who knows how to measure bodyfat.

Calipers are probably the most common way to measure body fat %, and the primary method for personal trainers at gyms. They are also notorious for giving VERY LOW numbers...especially in the hands of an inexperienced tester...even the electronic "electric current" handheld self-testers aren't really that great either...like I said before, the self-tests are generally better used to track change in fat %.

Ahem...the "gold standard" is the hydrodensitometry test...where they basically dunk you in a tub of water...

Basically what you're saying then is that your body is one giant muscle, with tiny ,undetectable fat cells hidden deep within?

Ah hell dude. I could care less as well as to the actualities of fat percentage. I know that I am in great shape. I'm in better shape now than when I was in the suck.

What I am saying is that you cannot pinch any fat on me. Of course I have skin and you can pinch that. There is only one giant muscle on my body.;)

Squat 320 - you mean with 320 lbs? holy cow...is that overhead squat or front squat? how many reps do you do?

I do 45 lbs Ha! but that's ok because I don't want to get bulky and I usually finished first in class because everyone else goes with their 70% max for their overhead squats while for me, I just do what's comfortable LOL.
