I have chubby arms, with little to no upper body strength. How I can get them looking and feeling toned?

I know that I will have to do cardio exercises to get rid of most of the fat, but as far as weight training.. I'm lost! What weight should I start on? What exercises are most effective in losing inches and gaining toned muscle?

Thank you for your help! :)

I don't know if I can explain this....but:

Stand away from the wall far enough where your arms are straight and your hands are flat against the wall. Lean in and push back out...using your ARM muscles....not any other part of your body. Start with a few a day and build up strength. It's like a 'standing up' push up. You can do it fast or slow....or try various rythms. (That sounded funny :) but you know what I mean!!

It'll really cause your arms to ache in the beginning.....but it does work. I have to climb alot of straight ladders at work and prefer to use my arms to pull me up than strain my legs and back all the time. This is an exercise we were taught by the Navy to have better arm muscle control. (It's also good for strengthening boob muscles.)

For me, I feel that to gain strength, and to have defined arms, it is all in your shoulders. You could start off with 2 five lb dumbells, one in each hand, raising it up above your shoulders and back down, making sure that your elbows are always on level and parallel toward the ground. You could try 4 sets of eights every other day. For your triceps, you could use an eight lb dumbell, holding it veritically with both hands behind you and raising it up toward the ceiling and back down. Again 4 sets of eight every other day. Biceps, just do bicep curls.. you could use the 5lb weight, just bringing it up and down.. 4 sets of eight. With the biceps, make sure that you keep your elbows straight. And another thing, you should do your biceps last, since it is a small muscle, you don't want to overwork it first, and not be able to finish the rest of your workout.

There are many other ways that you could work out your arms.. just ask if you want to know more.

Hope I explained it in a way that you understand?

from talkin to a friend of mine about that. She said that you should use a small weight. If you want to tone your muscles u need a slieght resistance, not a big heavy weight to build muscle. if you use these when doing a cardio workout one in each hand (maybe 1 or 2 kilograms) you should lose your chubby arms and have firm toned muscles. :D
