cuppa
The website looks nice yes it is, it's the only website that can give me the breakdown of Spicy Tuna Hand Roll (my fave food) so I signed up and I have even an Iphone apps for this. Every time I eat, I spend extra 10 seconds to input it to my iphone...there, my calorie tracked. I won't do this everyday but I want to track for 30 days so I can get pretty good assessment if I did what I thought I did lol. I already make a lot of adjustments from tracking for the last 10 days. Those things that I know (load fiber/good carb before exercise, load protein after exercise)...well I'm saying it but I didn't exactly do it until the last 10 days. I couldn't believe that I actually start snacking on carrot and celery (without dressing) and cutting down sugar on my coffee.....that little thing adds up everyday and I noticed the difference in those little things. Neutrino
I have been training for over 10 years - so pretty stable - although it is good to vary the routine every few months... Starting up is a challenge - but then you start seeing results and discover muscles you never even knew you had...LOL I have a whole series of exercises for abs sides and back.... I'm going to perform them in about 30 minutes from now - so have to leave for the gym now

Sounds good - nutrition makes a universe of difference - I have seen it first hand over the years... You must be very dedicated to enter everything through your iphone - I appreciate that, it is not easy to make all those changes - but it is only a matter of changing habits and worth-while afterwards !! I do have a die-hard love for peanuts... but fill a small serving (my daily "allowance") and eat them slowly - then I don't take anymore... One other thing I like is.... sweet potatoes (hardy any carbs, unlike standard potatoes), so later I will slice some and put in the over for some 40 minutes - with some corrage cheese and garlic - a smelly treat... I just came back from the gym - so now I can enjoy the rest of the Sunday before a hectic week starts tomorrow
Author Lauriebell82
So I weighed myself this morning and I lost a pound. So after 2 weeks of dieting and working my butt off at the gym I lost a pound. I guess I don't expect to lose like 10 pounds right away but I thought I'd lose a little more then that. I eat fruits and veggies, healthy cereal, whole wheat bread. I don't even think I eat all that much! Does my body have to have time to adjust to a normal routine of eating now that I'm not working as a cashier? I don't get it. I never had a problem losing weight before. I don't understand whats happening.
Neutrino
LB would you please list here every single item you ate in the past 48 hours, the approximate quantity and the time of day you ate it ? Please do not take this question the wrong way - I'll explain later
cuppa
LB would you please list here every single item you ate in the past 48 hours, the approximate quantity and the time of day you ate it ? Please do not take this question the wrong way - I'll explain later LB, I think this is a good advise. You need to keep track your food diary & your exercise (including post & pre workout). Also, could it be that you are under stress as well (from your cashier job)? Your body seems to plateau and since you are in the process of trying to lose the last 10 lbs (instead of starting from overweight), I think this is very common. Also, do you do cardio or you lift as well? I've been following this woman's advice and noticed some improvements (granted, I only do it for the past 10 days). She seems to know what she's talking about and if you noticed, her body went through transformation. I think she has a great body, lean & toned. http://www.livestrong.com/profile/echokitten/
allina
Mind - that BMI thing makes no sense at all - it only considers your weight vs your height, totally ignoring body structure or composition... I can't stand it when people make these statements! This is why for each height there is a VERY wide range of acceptable weight. Lets be realistic here, for 99.9% of people being outside their BMI range isn't good. LB, don't obsess so much, you don't want this to rule your life. Don't starve yourself, eat whole, fresh, non processed foods and do some interval training. Instead of going for a run for 30 minutes at 5.5mph, mix it up. Run at 7.5mph for 90 seconds, then 5mph, etc. Now that you're in good shape you need to shock your body once in a while with the workouts. I'm going to start either P90X or Insanity soon to get in great shape for my wedding, I'll let you know how that goes

allina
I'm surprised nobody asked the OP how much she currently weighs. I personally do not feel the need to ask LB exactly how much she weighs. I saw fairly recent pictured of LB so I know that she is at a good weight.
Star Gazer
I'm surprised nobody asked the OP how much she currently weighs. She is 5'2'' and recently lost 45 pounds. Prior to losing that weight, she said she was not chubby, nor would anyone think she needed to lose weight.

Prior to losing that weight, she said she was not chubby, nor would anyone think she needed to lose weight. What? Wouldn't an extra 45lbs on a 5'2 frame put her in the obese category? I remember LB looking fantastic in her wedding dress photos. I assume she gained the 5-10lbs since then and wants to get back to her shape in the dress photos.
Star Gazer
What? Wouldn't an extra 45lbs on a 5'2 frame put her in the obese category? That's what she said... that she lost 45 pounds, but before losing that weight didn't look like she needed to lose weight. And when you added up what she ate on a daily basis to lose that weight (such as a can of green beans for dinner, that it), she was eating only about 800-1000 calories per day, plus running 3-4 miles a day. Hence why I think she's a little obsessed with her weight. As to whether looking that thin is attractive, that's obviously in the eye of the beholder...
Author Lauriebell82
I wasn't obese 45 pounds heavier. Nobody would have thought I was extremely fat but I could stand to lose some weight before that though. Most of the weight that I retain is in my legs, stomach, and breasts. Therefore I didn't really look hugely fat, but I wasn't thin either. I'm not that far off from my pics of me in my wedding dress. I gained 5-10 pounds since working at the grocery store which is mostly evident in my legs and arms. I gain weight in certain areas of my body, it's weird. Allina: what kinds of runs do you do? Like can you give me an example of a treadmill workout? I usually do interval training as well but I do more incline intervals then speed. I don't know which one is better for weight loss. I would be interested to hear your workout though. Oh, I weigh 127 for anyone who is curious...I would like to get down to 115-116ish range.

My BMI is 23 but people thought I was 110 -115 lbs (BMI 21). There is literally very little fat left to lose so yeah and I feel quite fit so yeah I agree. My husband's BMI is 25.8! but he's very lean, look very good in clothes (or without clothes ), very little fat but he's almost at the overweight category. If anything, people said he might be too skinny but underneath his frame is tons of muscles. He's 5'11 - 185 lbs. I told him that he shouldn't drop any more weight if anything, he can pack more muscles here & there but definitely not losing those. Screw BMI

Screw BMI Agree - BMI is probably a safe-guard for people who don't know too much about fitness a warning of a range they should not exceed.... Mine one is like 18 and I am by no means underweight, my BF is 27 and he is in a good shape because I take him to run with me and fixed him up with some exercises, he is large and tall (he has some padding because I don't like thin guys) but by no way he can be called fat. I really like that website you posted a URL to : www.livestrong.com I started a profile there today and will get some pics up later this week Tracking your weight is a great way to loose or maintain... I'll be starting a new pill in a couple of days - so I will be informed of any changes... LB - try that website - tracking and charting your weight will not only help you achieve - but keep you at your target weight.

I got motivated by some of the people there. Be sure to connect with me, it seems that we are fairly similar as far as fitness goes. I joined the "did you exercise daily" and "exercise daily dare". I also joined do 100 push ups before 2010. Honestly, I haven't tried the 100 push-ups (have no time given my workout routines) but I have a feeling that if I rest up, I could do those already - in fact, I think my kickboxing class today already did 100 push-ups in addition to burpees. Anyways, LB, why don't you consider to join too and track your calories there? It helps me just by looking at what I ate that I actually didn't do what I've been advising people to do LOL. Neutrino
Hi Cuppa - I added you as a friend on LiveStrong All your units are Imperial and I use Metric, I think it is 2.2 pounds to the kg and 25.4 mm to the inch... www.calctool.org this is a converter I use at work sometimes. I have not entered my lifting weight yet or pics - but I hope to do so later this week. The 100 push-up challenge, is that like in one set, or a total ?

The goal is consecutive push-ups (with no rest). There is a program specifically for this. You notice that people often say Week1Day1Column1 W1D1C1 in that forum, that's from http://www.hundredpushups.com I haven't attempted it in one set yet but I already did 150 last friday over 5 sets though (30/30/30/30/30). Also, I did the modified one (knee on the ground). The last time I did the full military style one, I could only last 25 I think. I might attempt again since I'm fitter now

Interesting, I rarely change the incline on my treadmill, though when I run outside I make up for it. I do a lot of different things when I'm working out at home. Sometimes I zone out and jog for 45 minutes at 5.5mph. Yesterday I did a 3 minute warm-up of 1 min at 3.3mph, 1 min at 3.4 and 1 min at 3.5, then I ran a mile at 6mph, then I ran half a mile at 7.5mph then a mile at 6mph then a half at 7.5mph followed by a 3 minute cool down walk at 3.3mph. I'm going to run again today because I won't be able to do it tomorrow or Thursday. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, I'll figure it out in like 10 minutes when I hope on the treadmill

I actually love the inclines, it gives you a much better workout and I saw that I my abs got more toned once I started doing that. How tall are you? It's a little hard for me to run at a really high speed for a long period of time, I'm sure I could probably get in shape for it but my legs are short so it's much harder to run faster. I tried a new workout yesterday that I really really loved. It was interval training of both incline and speed, 15 seconds each pryamidding up and down. It was fun also, not nearly as boring and mundane as some of the other workouts I have done. Really Allina, you should try some hills, you'd love it. You wouldn't have to run for as long each day either because you will burn more calories.

Maybe not riding one of those cruiser bikes with 27 gears on a flat surface, but try mountain biking on trails... Using your arms and legs to maneuver around. I love mountain biking...... D-Lish
Always keep up with the exercise- cardio will be key. BUT- For me- it's my calorie intake. I'm a calorie nazi - and it works. Over-eating is the cause of weight gain. If you are exercising- even lightly- but your calories are on track, you'll lose weight. If you want drastic change- give up carbs and sugar for a month. If you want to maintain a lifestyle- start with eating less and not indulging in certain foods.
