I'm not fat, do exercise and I don't get spots but lately, ever since I started my job i feel urgh. I don't feel attractive. Does stress affect your looks?
cuppa
I have a stressful job which I love. Due to poor time management on my behalf I don't eat very healthily and nearly always skip breakfast. I'm not fat, do exercise and I don't get spots but lately, ever since I started my job i feel urgh. I don't feel attractive. Does stress affect your looks? Yes it did. You sounded just like me a year ago. I got a meltdown, I had work stress, I ate chocolate & coffee all the time, I skipped lunch, dinner or sometimes breakfast. I had no energy to exercise. I wasn't ugly or anything but since my meltdown, I started to exercise daily. I can't describe how it changes my life. I feel great, very minimum mood swings. And I'm amazed on how people keep complimenting me too. I asked my best friend the other day what was different (overall I was only 5 lbs lighter). She said the whole thing - better skin, better confidence, more balanced, better body, and the way I walk even different. Also, feeling fit & strong, it's an indescribable feeling. The most difficult part was getting the wake up call. In my case, it was extreme. In your case, you need to find it in you to find that motivation and be committed to make a lifestyle change. After a few weeks, your body will start to get into a rhythym and you will get addicted of the healthy life style too (obviously because you are fitter, stronger, and happier). jckkeith
Yes I think that stress can be very aging, the constant frowns and screwing up of the face causes quite deep and aging lines on the face. You also carry yourself differently when you are under stress for long periods of time - your step is not as spry and you aren't looking the world in the eye, and that can make you appear older too. Stress can also cause all sorts of physical maladies and pains, and those certainly make you appear older as well.
