Dream Brother

I am 39 (male) - had breakup 6 months ago and have spent a lot of time indoors - been unemployed also alas. I am better now but I have noticed that facially I have aged about 5 years since then. I have lines across my face - under eyes and forehead. I guess they are wrinkles but they are all horizontal lines. They were not there before the breakup.

I haven't had much fresh air and took up smoking again after quitting for 5 years. Will fresh air and stopping smoking help to stop/reverse this? Before this I was always told I looked 10 years younger than my age but now I look 5/10 years older.

Any tips?

thanks

yes, I do. My husband is 35 and he's been following my advice and he doesn't look a day older than mid 20s.

1. Hydrates your skin

Dehydration causes the lines become so deep. A few ways to hydrates your skin:

a. drink lots of water

b. quit smoking

c. minimize direct sun exposure (be sure to apply sun block)

d. apply moisturizer and anti aging serum to your deep lines

e. Exercise - it will open up your pores and will squeeze out the bad minerals out of your body through your sweat (and if you drink enough - it will hydrate your skin and overall body).

2. Stress Level

Stress ages people. Try to de-stress by socializing and again, exercising. The endorphines released from your exercise will help your stress level. Fresh air might help too.

3. Sleep enough

Very important, at least 6 hours a day. If you can't sleep, then do Yoga and breathing technique (quite a few good ones at Youtube).

4. Eat Healthy

Eat lots of fibers & fruits, minimize sodium which can cause bloating/puffiness and retain bad minerals/water.

I aged quite a bit last year due to stress, crappy eating habits, and not enough sleep. I made a comeback by doing all these 4 for the past 6 months and I now look younger than my age and get my skins back (smooth & glowing).

Good luck!!

Great, thanks cuppa! I usually go to gym 4/5 times a week and eat well. But the smoking has to stop, I also use good moisturizer but it's applied when I feel like it, I don't have any set patterns, same for cleaning face, never do it before sleep or waking up for example. But the stress is there and the sleep patterns are erratic, sometimes I fall asleep at 5 am. Beer probably doesn't help either although I stopped all alcohol for 3/4 months and still had the lines. So it must be the - lack of good sleep patterns, smoking, perhaps beer, definitely stress. Sodium is something I have looked into to, I hear what you are saying.

Anyways, have to battle the evils, no excuse to smoke every day. But I think the bottom line is no fresh air, sometimes I can spend whole day indoors at the moment, even going to gym means -> indoors, car, indoor gym and back, not good. Oh and water, well some days if not going to gym I don't drink any.

Some good food for thought, thank you for your reply.

If money is not a concern, perhaps you can also go to get facial and do light therapy. But yeah, hydrating your skin is the key. You will see that when you skin is moist & fresh, the lines will diminish greatly.

Try to drink lots of water and more exercise too.

Diet is huge too. Eat lots of veggies and fruit and Fish cuz of Omega 3's. Tuna is a good one because of the selenium (which has been shown to improve facial tone) but eat it in moderation.

This is the BEST advice ever! Everyone should practice these habits. Thanks Cuppa.
