Changing my life...

I need change in my life. Hard to admit to myself but i really do, and I notice lately I'm either lackadaisical or infelicitous about anything and everything. I would think it's normal to have ups and downs in life but when it suddenly seems like everyday is a downer, I can't help but worry.

I heard self improvement books are great, but I'm not ready to fall for the gimmicks of a self- titled guru. I did however came across a book at the library called " Addicted to Unhappiness" at my local library, so I thought why not?

So far it's a good read, I'm not complaining. Yet reading a book and applying it to life are two different things.

I want to stay positive and LEARN to deal positively when negativity abounds.

Anyone have any good advice?

Much appreciated.

IMO a self-help book is a great start. I say that because that is the route I took and it was a success, but in addition to the reading you will have to experience some ups and downs with your new changes. Remain patient and positive (and realistic at the same time) and things will look up for you.

Things are amazingly great for me.:):bunny:

When every day is a downer, it's time to shake up the environment you're living in, if you can.

Also, whenever I have a bad experience, I analyze it, sifting through it to see if there's anything I can learn from it. Most often, there's at least one grain of new information. Once that's figured it, it's no longer a wasted experience.

You also have learn to let go of the negative emotions. That's what the analytics are for. Instead of mulling over the negative emotions, reliving, internalizing or exernalizing, focus on the analytics, as an observer.

Thank you. I do have to take things slow when I need to be more analytical, except sometimes self conscienceness on my part usually revolves around putting myself own.

I usually have a tendency to mill over mistakes and blame myself for things when they go wrong. I have to stop being so hard on myself sometimes.

Pyro, which books did you read?

It sounds to me you're doing very well.

I read one book. Its entitled "People Skills" by Robert Bolton. Alot of it may seem common sense but for me it was an eye opener. Like I said before, a combination of that and going through life experiences and what TBF said and that is what has gotten me to where I am now.

If I can do it then anyone can.:)

I think you need to talk with someone about how you are feeling. Books are ok I guess, but like you say, applying it to real life is the challenge..reading is the easy part. You need to find the root of your unhappiness and that is the only way you can start to get out of this slump.

Did you just become bored and lonely?... When you look outside does it seem quiet, hopeless and dull? even if it's sunny out?..like everyone is having happy times except you and that makes you feel alone?

This is a bad slump to slide into..very very hard to come out of it and creating a comfort zone is what happens then that leads to full depression.

Go talk with someone and don't be afraid to let loose on what is bothering you.... Don't let these feelings simmer for to long....trust me.
