Kristine
I usually don't, I've done the fasting method and the exercise myself to death method, but now I'm trying diet pills for the first time. My mom used the brand I'm trying and was thinner so I'm hoping since it seemed to work for her, she was exercising in addition to the pills, I figure since she has success there's a chance it'll work for me. I took my first pills 2 days ago and so far lost 3/4 of a lb. I feel more awake, need less sleep, but I'm really hoping this gives me an edge. I already exercise some but could always increase it. I want to lose 60 lbs. The brand I'm using is SlimQuick. I didn't find too much about it on-line, but I figure it's kind of like a potent vitamin. What pills have you tried, did they work? Anyone try this one? How long did you use it and what were your results?
Rearden Metal
Most diet pills are a sham. There's a few out there (mostly ephedra based) that are effective. Here's stuff that actually works. - Ephedra - Caffeine - Green Tea - Clenbuterol (asthmatic, prescription and somewhat dangerous) - T3 and to a lesser extent, T4 (thyroid hormone, use with extreme care) - Human growth hormone (mostly safe, needs to be used continuously for 6 months +. Some speculation that it may promote active cancer cells to grow quicker, but that is not fully proven. Other effects include hair regrowth, skin and nail regeneration.) That's pretty much the gist of it. Anything other than those substances are either much less effective, or very dangerous (DNP). Hope this helps.
CarrieT
Ultimately pill never work. My suggestion is to Google "slim quick scam" and read the multitude of sites on people getting scammed with these weight-loss tricks.
make me believe
Oh good lord. Instead of "the fasting method" and the "exercise to death method" why don't you try the "eating healthy & exercising regularly" method? Good, healthy foods and moderate but regular exercise is the ONLY healthy way to lose weight. Starving yourself, exercising in excess, and diet pills are NOT the answer!! My co-worker constantly goes through cycles of working out like crazy & taking diet pills & going on fad diets (she even did the grapefruit diet recently), and she will lose a few pounds but it comes back on immediately when she goes back to her regular eating habits. You need to change your daily habits to become healthier & lose weight. What do you think is going to happen when you stop taking the diet pills??? Or when you stop starving yourself?? All of the weight is going to come back so then you will try something new, lose a few pounds again, eventually go back to your normal habits, the weight will come back, you'll try ANOTHER new fad, and so on. It never ends in these kinds of cycles.
LucreziaBorgia
I used Dexatrim (the original kind before they were recalled) years ago. They worked, probably too well as I was getting 'anorexia' comments from concerned coworkers. Unfortunately, it came with a price after a series of blinding headaches, it turned out I had tiny 'bleeds' throughout my brain. Nothing major thankfully, but enough to leave my brain pitted with small scars that still show up on a brain scan to this day. For obvious reasons, I don't recommend pills. I would recommend a few things that will work: 1. eat small meals frequently - don't go more than four hours without something to eat that has good nutritional value: healthy fats, fiber, etc. 2. Stay hydrated 3. Combine a weight or resistance band training with cardio five days out of the week 4. Swap white foods for brown: ie, bread, rice, etc. 5. Balance proteins, carbs and fats sensibly - do not eliminate a food group - that only works in the short term 6. Eat clean - eat as few pre-prepared things as possible. Avoid artificial *anything* ('low fat/low carb' etc. pre-made snack/meal crap) and stay away from HFCS. The body wasn't meant to eat stuff that was made in a lab or was synthesized from something else. It was meant to consume things in their natural forms. Try to eat that way. The body is programmed and designed to protect itself. When you starve yourself thin, your body will find a way to store fat regardless and if you start to eat regularly again, your body will 'rubberband' itself in anticipation of another starvation and you will put on even more fat than you lost. When you 'overexercise' your body thinks it is undergoing trauma and it will slow down the metabolism in order to preserve fat. Your body will not work along with you. It will work against you to preserve itself. That is what your body was designed to do: withstand pressure and stress and pack on fat for self preservation. What to do? Work with your body. Get reasonable amounts of exercise, but not so much that your body thinks it is being overworked. Eat frequently - enough that you are not hungry so that your body doesn't throw on that 'must store fat' switch. Eat real (healthy) fat, real (unrefined) sugar - in moderation. Your body needs those to survive, and tricking your body won't work in the long run. Our bodies are meant to work in ways to preserve us, and dieting/over-doing exercise are seen on a cellular level as 'stress and trama'. Cortisol is released into the body, and that will put a bit of a pudge around the middle to 'help' with the stress and trauma. Work with your body, not against it and you will see much better and lifelong results.
cuppa
^ great advice. OP, please do not even think about diet pills...it's not worth it. Do what Lucrezia recommend instead. You want to look beautiful and healthy, not thinly & sickly....what's the point of looking good if you have to pay a dear price with your health and can no longer do good things in life? D-Lish
You're better off drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.
SadandConfusedWA
I probably would have, but I can't handle any stimulants as I naturally have a faster heartbeat. I can't even drink coffee. That's why I can only smoke pot and can't have any fun with taking exctasy et al, (I guess it could be safe to try heroin).. but I digress. Unfortunately, if you have always been prone to weight gain, you will have to fight every step of the way to stay within normal weight.
mark982
i've mixed t3 with t4,good results. not a big fan of clen, makes my heart race too much. taking ai to help lower estrogen levels works and pretty darn safe. only know sure fire way to lose weight is pushing yourself away from the plate. Rearden Metal
Yeah clen is a bit tricky. Absolutely, diet and willpower are the #1 things needed.
mark982
but the one thing i did love, was tren. made cardio alittle hard, like being up high in the rockies. but i does melt the fat off, though i does make me REALLY agressive.
11bgentleman
It really depends on the type of diet pill. I know of two different types. You have fat burners and fat blockers. The fat burners are usually stimulants full of caffeine or something that resembles caffeine. They work by slightly raising your metabolism and body temp. They do have side effects of racing heart, high blood pressure, and sleeplessness. The fat blockers have an agent that blocks the fat in your digestive system. This is how Alli works. You will have to cut back on the greasy foods. One of the side effects is oily discharge. I am guessing that is not fun. I would recommend skipping all the diet pills and going for a healthy diet with moderate exercise. Try to eat five to six small meals a day and slowly ramp up your cardio. Start out by walking then jogging then running.
xpaperxcutx
I used to take Slimquick Extreme but have since switched to using Lipo 6 For Her. The thing about Slimquick is that they advertise themselves as pills for " women" but there's always an exceeding amount of caffeine in it that gave me jitter or quickened heart rate. If you have to resort to diet pills, always look at the ingredients. Most commonly found are chromium, guggulsterone, hoodia, yohimbe, etc. While all of them have been promoted as fat burning, the more ingredients a product has, the more likely, you might develop sideeffects. I usually go for something that has yohimbe or hoodia which are known to suppress appetite.
jthorne
DNP rocks, but makes you absolutely miserable. Not recommended unless you really know what you're doing. Clen made me super cranky. I'm on a hellacious plateau (several months). Was thinking about 'var but am too chicken.
