Coming up on two years, and it's also been getting harder, even ignoring the recent craziness from the past two weeks. I thought I'd get more used to the distance, and I kind of have, but it's tiring. Been madly in love with each other for 6 years. Back together for 2 years. I find that it's easier to fall into an argument when talking through those, so we try to be careful and use the phone for more important things. Not so sure how you guys that do this for years handle it...this is the first time we've met and it will drive me insane being away from him. Even the phone is bad in a way - can't much read nonverbal gestures, can't just touch someone to and show that you still love them and thus diffuse a critical situation (which is far easier than SAYING so!), can't hold each other after a long talk about difficult circumstances to quietly reassure each other that everything will be okay. I've been in his country for the past 2.5 months so I've kinda forgotten how much the distance sucks. SophieA Posted March 15, 2010 Share Posted March 15, 2010 Right around a year in LDR. I was lucky enough to have him with me in the same place for around 5 years before he left for med school. I don't think it ever gets easier but it's worth it. We're lucky enough that we haven't had to go more than 9 weeks without seeing each other. That's just about all I can bear though. I don't know how some posters go several months without seeing each other. They're much tougher than me! Guess you just gotta do what you gotta do. Link to post Share on other sites

We are very far away (Ireland and Hong Kong) so we cherish every minute we meet online and in real, or communicate in sms or phone. Time is never enough for us and we don't afford a minute to argue.
