AMN819
I met a guy Saturday night. He "N" was hanging out with one of my guy friends "A" who is dating my best friend "B". Me, A and "B" all decided to go to the city this Saturday to go to the bars. I sent "N" a TEXT MESSAGE that said "Hey, me, A and B are going downtown Saturday night and we're probably gonna crash at "A's"..just wanted to see if you wanna go. He replied "sure maybe"...does that mean no???
tattoomytoe
no it means MAYBE...i say ask again on friday, closer to D-Day....i am one of those people thaT almost always just say maybe, that way i have the option, but i usually decide yes or no the day before or that day. plus it seems less desparate than to say yes right away. Author AMN819
Thanx....one of my guy friends (who has been trying to date me..[i should have known better]) said it is a polite way of saying no... I hope you guys are right!
doniker
I have never liked to make firm commitments that I will be at a certain place at a certain time. I pride myself as being a very responsible person and don't like to stand people up or cancel plans. So by not saying yes, no harm can be done.
Author AMN819
It all sounds logical..but what is "sure maybe"? That is kinda contradicting...it's like saying "yeah..no". Why not just say..I don't know yet. I'll let you know. I asked him yesterday morning and I haven't talked to him since...can I call tomorrow morning and tell him we finalized the plans and wanted to see if he had decided? dyermaker
"Sure maybe" means "Sure maybe." I've never taken advice about anything remotely romantic from a girl who wanted to date me. I'd multiply those scruples by a thousand if I were a girl, and my guy-friend who had feelings for me was advising me. Friends like those are fine, they just don't deserve the benefit of the doubt with relation to the validity of their romantic advice.
