Author cuppa
Gah...I thought I'd be able to sneak under the radar on this one...I'll do it tomorrow and post time... Awesome! Look forward to it. Personally, I think Tman should do the burpee challenge too, maybe he can do the 2 challenges back to back so that it's competitive for me and Rorschach . tman666
Well, sounds like I still need to do the burpee challenge... Dang. I was also hoping to slink by unnoticed on that one... Anyway, the 100 squat, 100 push up and 100 sit up challenge results: Finished in 8:20 from start to finish. Push ups and squats were a breeze. Sit ups... Well, lets just say that I found an area that I need to work on (i.e. my creampuff-like mid-section). Cuppa, hope your ankle gets better! What were you doing when you jacked it up? Also, those bridge push ups look pretty cool, I'll have to give those a shot sometime.
Rorschach
Squats: no problem Sit up: pretty difficult push ups: nearly died Total time 15:10 including two 90 second rests. Form: terrible
tman666
Another one finishes! Good work Rorschach. Alright, who else? USMCHokie is obviously going to be posting his times any minute now (cough cough) but anyone else is more than welcome to join in. Any times under 5 minutes need to be accompanied by a video or I'm calling BS haha.
Author cuppa
Squats: no problem Sit up: pretty difficult push ups: nearly died Total time 15:10 including two 90 second rests. Form: terrible were you as bad as me in my push-ups? The last 30 was pure torture for me LOL (and that knee push-up too), oh well, room for improvement! I guess I'm the worst on this one . T-man, I twisted my ankle 2 weeks ago when I was running outside. And then on Wednesday night, we were doing new routine with our punches. It's called powerblast combination (I think the coach just came up with it). It's basically 5 min drill of 2 (2 powerful jabs) + 3 (2 jabs + hook) + 6 (6 moving powerful jabs). I was holding mitts while the other woman pounding on me. I guess I was extra energetic or something, so when she did power blast (6 jabs), I had to move backward fast while holding the mitts (and I was hopping around to keep my heart rate up). next thing I know, I just landed funny on that same ankle. Maybe it's just weak from 2 weeks ago? I miss my crossfit & kickboxing .....I wondered if I should still do the Texas push-up challenge today? Maybe doing it with one leg? I did one legged burpee before (though it's difficult as hell). Rorschach, are you still on with 100 dumbbell thrust challenge for next week?

I thought I was fast in my squats (2 min) but guess not lol. Yeah those bridge push-ups are like Burpees. It gets your heart rate soaring in no time. Try it (and tape it), I want to see big man doing it, it must be interesting to watch.
Rorschach
Rorschach, are you still on with 100 dumbbell thrust challenge for next week? Of course, and T-mans challenge this weekend. I was excited about my sit up time, sit ups have always been hard for me, but the push ups were killer. i don't think I was doing push ups at the end so much as slight dips while in a push up position haha
Author cuppa
Of course, and T-mans challenge this weekend. I was excited about my sit up time, sit ups have always been hard for me, but the push ups were killer. i don't think I was doing push ups at the end so much as slight dips while in a push up position haha Ok, have you done dumbbell thrust before? Since I don't do kickboxing & crossfit tonight (which is sad), I might do dumbbell thrust after work today. So here are the rules for 100 Dumbbell Thrust Challenge 100 continues dumbbell thrust for time. Whenever your hand drops below your shoulder, there is a penalty. I am thinking the penalty is either: 1. 50 jump robes per drop, OR 2. 100 M run (outside, not treadmill but if you must, treadmill is ok too), OR 3. 10 burpees OR 4. 3 Jack Knife (this is for me since I can't jump robes or run or burpees at the moment). So if you drop 5 times, you can choose to run 500 M or do 50 burpees (since you love it so much lol) or 250 jump robes. My weight might be between 15# - 25# (depending on how strong I feel tonight) - so total weight is between 30 - 50. Your wieght can be betwen 20# - 40# (don't do 40# though, this is a killer lol) so total weight is between 40 - 80#. Rememeber this is high reps, so you should pick your comfort weight. Also when you drop it, be sure you take time to rest because it already incur penalty anyways. Don't drop it for 1 sec and back at it. if I drop it, I will drop it for a good 15 secs to rest for the next one. Be sure to do a lot of shoulder stretch & warm ups before you do this (at least a good 5 min so you get warm or do your eliptical first for 10 - 15 mins so you get warm). Good luck!!!! Rorschach
Is this the exercise? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peLFTePbfDQ
Author cuppa
Is this the exercise? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peLFTePbfDQ There is one variation (she does it with the squat, I can't do that today lol). I think that one is called dumbbell squat thruster. Mine will be shoulder thruster or maybe slightly with the squat. So this is pure shoulder & arm strength due to my ankle, The advantage of doing what she did is that you got your momentum and hip extension to help you to thrust the dumbbell up. The other one is a bit hard to describe. This is what I usually do. It's a little bit like a clean & jerk movement. So I rest my weight on top of my shoulder and then jerk those up (so don't squat that low, I did a litlle hop to help me push upward). I'll videotape myself anyways, you probably can see it before you do it. We can do either, as long as we get the good form (no slopply back, tight abs, and don't bend your wrist/bounce the weight). Can practice againts the mirror before doing it for 100 too.
Rorschach
WE LIVE! In celebration I just did another 50 push ups.... I want to get good at these damn things, push ups are one of those exercises that people use to really rate fitness. Same thing with pull ups and bench press, none of which I do regularly... hmm I think I should fix that.

Same thing with pull ups and bench press, none of which I do regularly... hmm I think I should fix that. Lol...good job Rorschach. Personally, at your weight (260 lbs you said), 15 min burpee is amazing. I bet you, in a month, you will notice the difference. We should do some deadlift kind of challenge too because this one is great for overall body/muscle group. Maybe T-man can come up with one or I will search my past crossfit WODs that we can do in our own living room (without those weights!). I think our own bodyweight is quite enough to build strength like those handstand push-ups and push-ups. I need to get better at push-ups too and sometimes seriously, I would chat with my coworkers in the cafetaria and I told them that I feel like I want to drop on the floor and practice my push-ups (nuts! lol). So that we don't forget, I want to bring this from the other thread: 100 Burpee Challenge result USMChokie - 6:15 Cuppa - 8:57 Rorschach - 15:00 Next Up: T-man666 (anyone else?) 100 Squats, 100 sit-ups, 100 push-ups challenge result: T-man: 8:40 Rorschach: 15:20 (with 90 secs rest) Cuppa: 21:00 (with 3 mins rest - need to cut down on the rest time!) Next: USMChokie - are you up for this? Upcoming challenges: - 100 dumbbell thruster - Tman Texas Push-Ups/Planks/Squats challenge
Rorschach
I'm going to be doing the 100 burpee challenge regularly until I can do 15 minutes without sacrificing my form so much, I feel like I really only did half the actual exercise but I'm going to practice it until I can get better. Maybe I'll do it at the gym regularly.
