Silly or Thoughtful?

Recommended Posts

Over the course of the last 3 months I've been trying to figure out how to approach this girl in one of my classes. I can't seem to get myself to actually speak up to her, so I've been trying to come up with alternate ways to "break the ice" between us.

My Question:

I happen to know this girl really likes to receive flowers. Of course I'm not planning to bring her real flowers to break the ice, but I've been toying with the idea of trying to make an origami flower which I could hand to her after class. Would this come across as silly/goofy, or do you think she would find it thoughtful?

In case it matters, I'm a 21 year old college student.

hi, my name's _____, what's your name? do you like this class?

-------------------------------------------------------------

or, if you're in the same major.. do you like this teacher?

just a couple basic ideas. most people have no problem engaging in conversations like this (her, not you..). what i mean by that is if she's interested in spending more time with you then the conversation can lead anywhere.. if not its easy to go your separate ways.. its non threatening, which is important.. that means that unless she's got a real bad attitude it will go well.. even if you don't get a date, there's no harm in it. take an interest in her and it should flow naturally. you don't have to sell yourself, she'll decide if you're someone she wants to be with all on her own.. by taking an interest in her youre showing your feelings and intentions in a healthy way. hope that helps!

also, i think most guys feel like you do about approaching a new girl, at least for a while.. sometimes im cool and sometimes i have butterflies.. but what's nice about being genuine and friendly is that the only people that won't want to talk or associate with you aren't people you want to be around anyway. that's not to say that all people that won't be your friend are bad.. maybe they have something going on that's personal or whatever.. but for the most part people like other people, and enjoy opportunities to meet nice new people.
