I think Mary is kind of blowing things out of proportion. I find her dedication to this thread endearing, and she's very supportive- but I truly, truly don't think there's anything going on here.

 

Women just act differently. I told you, I can vouch for your wife. I like the intimacy of a close friendship. My Russian best friend started the kiss on the cheek thing, and as weird as it may sound - if we're feeling especially close, when the one leaves, the other gets a kiss on the cheek.

 

This is ALL platonic. It's just close and real, and sweet. I love my best friend, and while she is not touchy/feely/huggy in any other ways, when she kisses me on the cheek, it's affectionate and sweet. I tell my friends I love them like every day I see them. Because I DO! And I've known these girls on a very close level for over 6 years.

 

She's bonding with these women, it's so, so great and healthy for her. She is responding to your whining with wry amusement because of one, her culture- and two: she's telling her best friends at work how you think they're lesbians.

 

Tell her you understand now, and are glad she's found a friend she feels so close to. End of story, let this one go.

I now accept that this was NOT a kiss on the lips but a Russian greeting.

 

Did she float my lesbian fear to the team? Yes. How do I know? because I asked her. I told her that I was not happy about her doing that and they are all going to think me silly. She said she just explained my reaction when seeing the cheek to cheek kiss. They did agree that my reaction was understandable. Nice to know.

 

What she does not like, is me being envious of their friendship bond because that will create tension between us. I need to back off on that. I hope I can do that.

 

I told her that the reason I got so jealous and sulky was simple, I love her. That was when I got a kiss and it was on the lips.
