fiat500
any advice on how to get over feeling REALLY LONELY? it's really killing me. i'm 24 and i'm thinking about going back to school to get my bachelors. i know that finding a boyfriend actually wouldn't help because i'd like to feel comfortable about being single and alone first before getting into a relationship. anyone? USMCHokie
Spend more time with friends and family. Meet new people through your friends (social networking) and become friends with them and their friends. Just expand your social circle and spend time around other people. At the same time, cherish the time you have to yourself...learn a hobby or activity that doesn't require any other people...this will help you become more comfortable being alone...and that may help alleviate your feelings of loneliness... Author fiat500
thanks for the helpful advice. i do have a few friends that hang out with me from time to time and while i'm not clingy, i do get sad when they're busy and don't text to hang out. so i guess i'm emotionally clingy? i never reveal that to them though. they're the ones that will always ask me to spend time with them first. and if we do hang out, i'll devote all my time and energy to them because it feels good just being with someone. i realize this is not healthy since, like you said, it's good to have alone time. i will look into a hobby. Peaceful Guy
so i guess i'm emotionally clingy? no way! you're being too hard on yourself! what you're describing is a genuine enjoyment of spending time with these people. its a compliment to both their AND your character! so i guess i'm emotionally clingy? i never reveal that to them though. they're the ones that will always ask me to spend time with them first. and if we do hang out, i'll devote all my time and energy to them because it feels good just being with someone. i realize this is not healthy since, like you said, it's good to have alone time. i will look into a hobby. hey, don't go beating yourself up! everyone gets lonely its nothing to be ashamed of! the hobby's not a punishment for being an emotional clingy person that needs to learn to spend time by themselves its a backup activity to have waiting for you so when no one's around to hang out you've got something to dive into.. it could even just be reading a cool book or something. even watching movies and chatting on the net is fun!
