Not necessarily...you have to have some carbs in your diet...you know...to live...

 

 

What exactly do you eat every day?

 

I probably have the most excruciatingly repetitive and boring diet on the face of this planet...but it's relatively inexpensive, and I've gotten used to eating the same thing over and over again...

 

 

Here is an example of what I'd eat for a day:

 

Breakfast:

 

1 large bowl of cereal mix (Kashi GoLean Honey Almond Flax Crunch, Total, and Fiber One all mixed in a bowl...yum...! :laugh:)

1 tbsp. Smuckers natural peanut butter (reduced fat)

12 oz. glass of calcium enriched orange juice

1 banana

 

Lunch/Dinner: (I cook a large pot and eat a serving for lunch and dinner for a couple days)

 

One serving would be approximately:

 

1 cup whole grain pasta

8 oz. boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into small pieces

Pasta sauce

1.5 cups frozen California Blend vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)

 

Mix everything together in a pot...

 

OR

 

Same ingredients but stir fried chicken and veggies with steamed brown rice

 

OR

 

Substitute ground turkey or lean ground beef for chicken in above meals...

 

 

Post Workout Snack

 

Protein shake

1 banana

1 cup of whole almonds

Dude, this is depressing. I've read some of your posts and if YOU'RE having a hard time out there in the dating world, it's gonna be nearly impossible for average looking joes out there like me lol. I'm very jealous of your physique, but I admire the amount of hard work you had to put into it to get it there.

Ya know, there are some people out there that are blessed with great genetics. Those people are few and far between, but even they have to work for their gains like everyone else.

 

Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be an inverse relationship between how athletic/fit/strong someone is and the amount of excuses they make for themselves?

Agreed. The reason I know he had to put a lot of hard work into his physique is because since early 2008 I've been consistent with my diet & exercise lifting weights a minimum of 5 days a week in addition to cardio and eating relatively healthy & I'm still nowhere NEAR the impressive shape this guy is in.

Thanks bayou, I appreciate the kind words. As tman said, genetics does play a role in it, and I have pretty decent genes for leanness...I started training about eight years ago...gained a pretty decent amount of weight over that time (which is actually rather tough for a hardgainer like me), but it wasn't until this past August (ironically right after my breakup) that I pushed my training and nutrition regimen into high gear and focused on getting over that hump to get that "cut" look while maintaining decent muscle mass...so yea, it definitely takes some time to get there...it's all about challenging yourself with your training and staying disciplined with your diet (heheh, I'm eating a brownie as I type this...:laugh:)

 

As far as dating, yes, I have always had difficulties with dating. For most of my life, I used my race as an excuse for why women weren't interested in dating me. I figured it wasn't even a matter of attractiveness, but that my race gave me an appearance that just wasn't appealing to women. So through college, I never tried...I might have asked two people out over the course of five years in high school...they both said no... Then last year, I was in my first serious relationship that ended about nine months ago. Ever since then, I've felt A LOT better about myself (I mean, look at my pictures...hahahah...:rolleyes:) and have made strides in getting over my race insecurity, but I don't quite have that high of an interest in going out and dating...I'm still kind of coping with that breakup...and sometimes the insecurity creeps back in...but that's always a work in progress for me...

This is an interesting point, and one I agree with wholeheartedly. There has been a large influx of physique/body threads on LS lately, and a common question is whether the face or body is more important in attraction. I believe that one's physique is a reflection of that person's personality, values, and work ethic... The fit and athletic folks generally values themselves and their health and work hard to maintain their fitness...this attitude also extends to their other traits...they are more likely to identify their own shortcomings and make the necessary changes and improvements to fix those shortcomings...they don't make excuses or blame others for these shortcomings...they just fix them...and become better and more attractive for it...

Agree.....it takes discipline & determination. I workout twice a day (and quite hard workout, not just running on treadmill :)), I'm nowhere as fit as USMChokie (still waiting for those 4 packs to appear somewhere lol).

Oh, I didn't mean to bring race into this, but I guess it is what it is...no, I've gotten a lot better regarding this little insecurity of mine, but it's something that I don't know if I'll ever be able to 100% kick...I don't think I possess that "traditional stereotypical" look for an Asian guy, but I'm sure I still carry the stigma...and you're right, I guess it definitely depends on the area you're in...

If the people here would take a look at the numerous bodybuilding forums floating around you will see plenty of men like the OP. Buff and all (some are even down to 5% bf with 18 inch guns). Yet they too complain why they cant seem to pull in women.

Hokie, bravo dude! Great work. I'm also glad (and relieved) to see that you've attained that kind of strength through (mostly) body-weight exercises. About 6 months ago I switched my training over from mostly weight lifting to weighted calisthenics; people told me it was a mistake, that I'd F up my form and what not, but honestly I'm glad I did. Your example is just one more proof for my drive. I use weight vests, but I'm not nearly up to the weights you're at yet - currently rotating between 80, 60, 40 lbs. added. It really is a big transition from just straight resistance lifting. I also do the plyometrics + box for legs. I have never heard of using a bosu ball like that before though, I can't wait to try it out. Your diet is very clean too, not full of supplements and crap.

 

Anyway, much props. The artwork is rad as well.

 

Btw, lmao @ the first pic in the album, I've seen that before on some tv show I think. I Lol'd in real life.

And for weighted body-weight exercises, just like any other exercise, you have to be careful of form. As long as you're aware of it, there isn't anything inherently "dangerous" about doing them. I'd strongly recommend giving the Bosu ball a try...it will strengthen your core and stabilizer muscles like you wouldn't believe...and after a few weeks to a couple months, return to normal lifts, and you'll be surprised by the amount of strength gained and the ease of the lifts...

 

And I recently accessorized my box jumps...add weight vest... :bunny:
