thepulse27
Damn. This completely ruined my plans to post some topless, posing a**hole pics (I was getting quite proud of myself, and I couldn't put them on facebook - that really would make me an prick!). I'll leave that idea for now, seen as a) you did it first, and b) I think you look better than me. Bastard. Seriously though mate, looking good (the tan and the black and white photos do you no harm either,) and I can really appreciate how much work you've put in. I've got a question about the high weight low rep approach though - did it not make you too bulky at first? I stick around the 10-12 reps, I'm at the size I want, obviously could always get that little bit more toned, fairly happy with strength as well, but it would be nice to improve there too. But I am curious about your method - it obviously gets results. I'd just be worried about adding bulk; anything that makes me slower or cumbersome on the football pitch isn't worth it to me. How did it work for you? Bosu ball Deadlift? If you can maintain form there that's ridiculously impressive. Congrats mate. Did you start out low weight? Finally, apologies to eveyone for how geeky I just made this thread. You can go back to admiring his arse now.

shadowplay
I'm a 26-year-old woman, and I think you're very attractive. Your body is beautiful. Generally I'm not big on muscles but your body is lean enough to not look overly beefy. Only two small faults I can find. One is your height, which is shorter than my ideal, but still tall enough for me to date you without it being an issue. The other thing is the tattoo. I actually love tasteful tattoos on guys, but the design of yours is too much for me. Still, it wouldn't dissuade me from dating you. In short, looks obviously aren't your problem. So why did you start this thread? Edited May 29, 2010 by shadowplay
Author USMCHokie
The jury is still out: http://hk.humankinetics.com/ijspp/viewarticle.cfm?jid=37883fk874723nbx8388CJtu6847N8gD7326FA&aid=16867&site=37883fk874723nbx8388CJtu6847N8gD7326FA Interesting premise...but there are a few things that I'd like to know about their study...unfortunately I can't get the full article without paying... Primarily, I like to know how the BOSU ball was used in the lifts. Was the rubber side up or down? I can guarantee you that having the plastic side up/rubber side down significantly increases the difficulty of the exercise. And there is one crucial flaw in this study...they only measure the rectus abdominal, oblique abdominal, and erector spinae muscles...there is MUCH more to the core than just the abdominals...it is all the smaller stabilizer muscles that are crucial to balance...especially those in the legs...and it is those muscles that are most significantly strengthened... I personally have noticed that stable base exercises have become MUCH easier after several weeks or months of those same exercises on the BOSU ball. And besides, they look hella cool and draw lots of attention.

So why did you start this thread? Thanks SP, I really appreciate the kind words, especially coming from you. Height has never been a concern of mine, and I honestly don't understand why some guys here on LS get so worked up over it. I work with what I have and improve the things I can control. As far as the tattoos...yea, I don't take it personally...it is what it is... I actually started it at the request of another member who asked that I post some pictures of my training progress in the physical fitness forum. I just decided to add a touch of douchiness to it... Seriously though mate, looking good (the tan and the black and white photos do you no harm either,) and I can really appreciate how much work you've put in. Heheh, thanks, I appreciate it. But don't be discouraged just because of me. If you're proud of your accomplishments and your progress, then by all means, post the pictures and get feedback from the forum. I've got a question about the high weight low rep approach though - did it not make you too bulky at first? But I am curious about your method - it obviously gets results. I'd just be worried about adding bulk; anything that makes me slower or cumbersome on the football pitch isn't worth it to me. How did it work for you? I am a naturally slender guy, so gaining a lot of muscle mass is a long process for me. If you're the same way, which I am guessing you may be, then it should be a problem for you either. Remember, all "toned" means is larger muscle mass with less body fat. I honestly wouldn't be concerned about getting too massive. You'll know when you're too big...and to be honest, I'm right about at that point myself and am quite satisfied with where I'm at mass wise...and I've adjusted my workouts accordingly... High weight, low rep routines develop strength more than sheer volume, in my experience. Consider trying a 5x5 routine...where you lift enough weight to do only 5 reps or so for 5 sets. Bosu ball Deadlift? If you can maintain form there that's ridiculously impressive. Congrats mate. Did you start out low weight? I started out at about 60% of my normal rep weight just to get used doing the exercises on the BOSU ball. After I got comfortable with the balance, I steadily increased weight...depending on the exercise, I'm at about 85-100% of normal rep weight now...but I've been doing the BOSU ball thing for a pretty long time now...
