Women Bodybuilders appear too masculine

Recommended Posts

fantasy2000

I am not a fan of looking at bodybuilders of any sex. The oils and the huge muscles bulging out. If people find this a great sport then that is their choice.

However, I cannot understand women who want a bodybuilding look. It seems to take away from their femininity big time. I am sure some take steriods to enhance their bodybuilding appearance and some are likely lesbians. Why would a heterosexual female want to look like a bodybuilder?

There are lots of different kinds of bodybuilders, you seem to have blinders on for heavyweight non-naturals.

I think Jamie Eason is pretty damn hot: Clicky!

Sorry, but even the girl in that picture is too buff and she doesn't have enough fat on her.

Thankfully the amount of women who want to be buff is only a very small amount. In fact I'd think that most women are actually scared of becoming buff. That's why when they are in the gym they are doing leg presses with only one 20 pound plate...

Maybe not all women want to be feminine all the time?

The big problem with bodybuilding--excluding so-called "natural" bodybuilding, of course--is that it is unhealthy. Almost all world-class competitors, male and female, take steroids. These create all kinds of serious health risks.

A lot of them pump themselves full of testosterone and steroids like the men do. Why do you think they're voice changes and becomes that masculine husky gross-ness?

Right. Let me try and understand this. You want to look like a man rather than a woman and risk your health at the same time. I am at a loss to understand that.

Define buff though.

Some people say Jessica Biel is buff, to me, she's lean & athletic (with nice booty & boobs).

I'd love to get some definition in my back, arms, and abs. I think some women built out differently when they work out. I doubt I will look like the "body builder" look but for some women, they might fill out more, it's in the gene I think.

Cuppa, I don't think you have anything to worry about... :)

The less than pleasant look that OP speaks of, at least for me, requires a great deal of specific effort to look like that...similar to the look you see on magazine covers and at bodybuilding competitions you might see on TV...

However, I don't think OP realizes that a vast majority of bodybuilders do not normally ever look like that day-to-day...they specifically prepare for events, competitions, photoshoots, etc., by reducing body fat to unhealthily low levels and getting a ridiculous temporary pump for the event...they maintain this look for perhaps hours...or possibly a day or two at a time...so what you see on the magazine covers is hardly what you'd see on any given day...

Buff...? I hate that word...the picture of Jamie Eason looks great...she's definitely not as "excessive" as some women I've seen at the gym and in the media...like I said in the post above, she's oiled up and prepared specifically for the photoshoot...it's very unlikely she looks like that day to day...

And I'd have to agree with you...and it's exactly the attitude and fear that prevents women from really seeing any progressing from a physical training program. It is highly unlikely, barring genetics or supplementation, that a woman who weight trains will "look like a man"...it's just physiologically unlikely...

seriously. that's like their biggest fear and I don't know why. do you know how intense a woman's workout would have to be before they even get remotely close to building big muscles?

due to that irrational fear, that's why most women don't have the nice thighs, firm butt, or toned arms. the ones that do have those sexy features, (genetics aside) understand how the human body works.

I remember about 25 years ago a top bodybuilder died a few hours after winning a big contest. It wasn't the steroids but all the other drugs used to reduce water and fat right before the contest. It seemed like top bodybuilders in contest shape are as close to walking dead anybody wants to get.

As soon as I start regularly dating a chick I'm going to have her come to the gym with me. I'd give her a good workout plan and raise her sexyniess level to over 9000!

Most women are so afraid of bulking up they don't know that there actually exist dumbbells heavier than five pounds. I kid you not. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE for most women to bulk up even if they wanted to.

No wonder so many women are so out of shape.

A typical woman walks into the gym and lifts 3-5 pounds a few times and she thinks she's in shape. It's worse. Droves of women whon't even touch the weights.

Yeah. And the worst part is...muscles BURN fat.

I have more musecles than your average guy.

I only date women weaker than me. That's 99.99999999%.

You're probably still stronger than Ms. Eason...

I can bench and squat more than average in my gym. Her numbers would be barely average for a man if that.

Agreed, depending on what you're considering an average man...one who has at least minimal weightlifting experience, or a random man from off the street that has never stepped foot in a gym...?

What most people fail to realize about many of these women is that although they have very defined musculature, they're incredibly thin...so they are far from the size of even the average male...even the ones that have never lifted before...

I bench press 75 lbs (60% of body weight), deadlift 175 lbs (1.4 o f bodyweight), squat 170 lbs, and military press 58 lbs.

I get lean but nowhere muscular, it is hard work and I already lift 2 or 3 times a week since February. I don't lose the hips, still look womanly and I have so many people told me that I will look like female arnold but so far, it's not happening at all. More so, the butt goes up and get round since I do powerlifting.

I think I converted a few women already, 3 of my girl friends join crossfit because of me and they used to do Tracy Anderson (no more than 3 lbs dumbbell + 800 calories a day) and now they do all these 25 lbs kettlebells, 20 lbs wallball (including olympic powerlifting).

To look like that, I would think you have to be in single digit bodyfat and probably don't eat carb at all. Typical female athlete (if I can call myself that :o) is about 15% bodyfat and I think I'm between 15 - 20% which is good for normal healthy female.

There is no way a woman could get cut like that w/o the use of male hormone supplementation
