My wife of 17 yrs. we have 2 daughters 9 & 11 told me she was unhappy and wanted us to separate..I was floored but could feel that something needed to change in our marriage which was void of intimacy for quite awhile..still this didn't ease anything when she moved into her own place a month ago which is 2 blocks from my job..we have good jobs although she makes 3x's more..I tried the "let's go to therapy", she said "maybe a year ago".."we're like roommates and very good parents but I have no desire to try anymore" she added.I am very close to my daughters we had very stable routines (bedtime,schooling) I'd make breakfast every morning,pack the lunches we'd split driving to school...the hardest thing is not seeing them when I normally would which was practically all my free time..or calling to say "I'm coming by to give them a kiss and say good night" that part seems unnatural to me..Not sure I'm grieving because I miss her or guilty because my girls have to live this way..If she wanted to give me a wake up call she did.. just don't want either of us to get used to this situation..I won't move into my own place till next month maybe then I can think clearly...I'm trying to find out what she wants unless that's it..she booked us a room together 2 weeks ago for a sporting tournament since I coach my girls and she is the manager which was really uncomfortable to me..It's hard to remain 'friends' when you're told I love you but am not in love with you...Obviously she's moved on and I need to accept it.

ILYBNILWY usually means there is someone else. The worst thing you can do now is be her "friend". She's already moved out. Not much else you can do except getting yourself some power, feeling some sort of control and filing for D.
