jenifer1972
You likely have lactose intolerance and gastric reflux. A very high percentage of people have both these problems, and ingesting lactose when you have this problem will aggravate the other.

Best thing to do is eliminate all dairy from your diet for afew months. Make a dr appt too, just to make sure that you're okay. Let them know how you've been feeling and how long this has been going on.

I think its hard to find a good GI Dr. I noticed my digestive problems started months after my 1st kid. You are right though I need to stop the dairy all together, not for 2 days but for a couple months. I also want to eat Gluten free foods as well and see what happens. Stopping the coffee and hot food def helped. I think my whole digestive system changed after I had kids. I just need to research what foods I can and cannot eat that have Gluten. SydneyCarton
IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion, so it's important to rule out all other causes of your symptoms. There are laboratory tests for both lactose intolerance and celiac sprue (allergy to gluten), so if those weren't done 7 years ago, they should be now. If they're negative, it may be worth a trial of a lactose and gluten free diet to see if that improves things. All of this can be done by your primary care doctor - no need for a gastroenterologist. The last things that might be worth doing are various barium radiology studies and upper and lower endoscopy - you'll need a GE for them.
