Ah well... my week's adventure

So I've been out of the dating scene a bit because of family issues and such. And also I got sick of it, dating in so-cal is pretty harsh. It's all smoke & mirrors. After you work through the ambiguity, usually what you'll find is a giant flake.

 

I decided to jump in and put in a bit more effort the past few weeks. As a guy, if I don't put in the effort, nothing is going to happen. I'm not going to have a hot girl suddenly hit up on me when I'm buying toothpaste at the supermarket.

 

I did have a flaming gay guy hit on me though. But he runs in the same circle as I do so I just tolerated it with polite indifference. This past weekend he turned it on full force, and he was making one of my female friends that I was chatting with uncomfortable. And pretty much that was the closest to scoring a number I've come to this week.

 

As for ones that do fit my sexual orientation, I asked a 24 year old out on a date Saturday, and she flaked. But that was no surprise. I already knew that was a possibility so Friday night I briefly flirted with K. Quantity is important. Have to always keep going.

 

So last night I went to meet up with K, wasn't a date, just meeting up at a place that she goes regularly and I go sometimes. I was hoping to do some more flirting and get her number.

 

As soon as I walked in, I noticed an exotic looking girl with pigtails. She was not the best looking girl around, and she dressed down, but I was very interested in dancing with her. Somehow, I knew she was going to be a good dancer. But I focused on my mission -- K. Well, K did the hot & cold thing, so during her cold phase, I pulled the plug on the mission and I went off to do my own thing. It's much easier to make new connections than to chase one down that's running away from you. I figured I'll just do some damage control with K at the end of the night and do a minimal upkeep in case she gets hot again in the future.

 

So I asked the the exotic girl to dance. After a few dances, we really connected, and I was starting to become more and more impressed with her. She was very responsive too. Her mom was there -- it's a social dancing club, people of all ages go, so it wasn't odd that the mom was there. Even her mom noticed our connection and both of them came by and asked me a bunch of questions.

 

I was starting to like this girl more and more, and it seemed to me even the mom had a good impression of me. Sounds great... until I found out she's only here for a visit; she lives about 450 miles away. So at the end of the night, we said our goodbyes, and she gave me a kiss on the cheek. And that's all folks.

 

I haven't felt a connection like this with anyone since I broke up with my ex over a year ago. I've flirted, I've gotten phone numbers, I've gotten dates, I've gotten sex. But none had the same connection I felt with her by the end of the night. There was some mysterious vibe that captured me.

 

Oh well, it's is what it is. There will be others. I have done the long distance relationship thing before, not interested in repeating.

 

And those were the highlights of my week's adventure.
