The Happy Thread

Recommended Posts

Thanks WF, my garden is so looking like autumn has arrived, my baskets and planters all look droopy and just so fed up of the cold windy weather.

On a very big plus note, H has phoned to say he may be able to swing a posting to Cyprus, so if I screw up the interview, at least we can get there with his job... YAY!! so looking forward to lots of planting of exotic plants and veggies and melons etc oh Happy days !! fingers and toes crossed.

Happy that cosmetic surgery is cheaper in Cyprus, my illness has wrecked my teeth, so lovely veneers for me, oh and perhaps a wee lift here and there (I can dream).

Happy that I have the energy to tidy my dining room, it looks like a huge gang of marauding Vikings have passed through and I want it all lovely for H coming home tomorrow night, have a lovely menu planned.

happy days everyone

I'm happy that all is going so well with GF and I. We just got back from a visit to my aunt and uncles in Michigan, where I introduced her to the whole family (except the Texas clan, which she already knew) and it was really fun. GF is wizard at her job. I talked to her supervisor and he said that she is one of the best counselors he has ever seen. She has quite a following among the teenage girls she counsels, and has shown great success at weaning them off drugs and booze. My Golddigger/ trophy wife has turned into a very good woman of heart and mind and my pride in her achievements grows dailly. I'm also happy that my debut as a history teacher will start soon and I can get on with my new career. I will miss the Army and my buds, but am looking forward to my new, non-cheating, non-combat soldier, life.

I'm happy to be where I am right now albeit missing my family back home. It's winter here and just when I was adapting to the weather, it gets way too cold for me!

I have been spending a lot of time with SO's kids and they get along well with me so that makes me happy!

That said, today has been tough for both of us as his ex wife has been very difficult with the visiting rights since she met someone new. Something his friends has warned him about, funny enough. Anyway, tomorrow will be a brand new day and I'm sure we'll have a great day!

He broke my heart in two. Shattered it, to be precise.

But it's still a beautiful heart, and I grieved - and it felt good.

I started over, and have never looked back.

I'm happy because I met a woman who knows just how to kiss me. When I'm feeling a bit down her kiss is tender and sympathetic. When I'm up her kiss is inviting and exciting. I met a good kisser, she just seems to know, and I'm happy about that.

Hi all. Happy for you Joe, leaving military is very hard, but to be a history teacher, how fantastic is that!! So glad all is working out for you.

Shakz A wonderful kiss is just the best, toe curling snogs are one of my favouritust things. Kissing till your lips fray is so good.

WF, love the avatar, always thought of you as a lilly type person, will now change to a heady magnolia!!

GG Healed hearts are always the strongest x

From an overcast Oxford morning.

Happy that poor Maggie baby lab is better after being stung by a wasp on the eye!! vet is also happy, big vet bill!!

Happy that I have 3 days until hubby is home, hope we get what we want otherwise he is off to Afghan in November for 6 months and will have to have Christmas in May.

Happy that I have had 2 days of pain free days!! Hoorah! and the energy to tackle the big sort out - seems the marauding vikings also got to my bedroom and crafting room! If anyone asks, I shall pretend I am sorting out and not just messy.

Happy that the telephone man who had to fix points in my bedroom believed that the huge lump under the quilt was hubby asleep - was really a huge pile of stuff that I shoved there before he went there!! I am a slob, well a very clean slob. When ill I just don't have any energy, but it has got silly!!

Off for coffee, cake and a chat with friends then mess tackling Happy Days.

I am happy that WF has her old avi back, that Seren is perky, that Joe is glowing, that Skakz is snogged out, that GG is healing and the WD is soaring.

I am happy too that my painting has dried to touch so I can do something with it now.

I am happy that I finally got the verge cleared, but NOT happy that it seems to have rendered a huge rat homeless and that it is now seeking shelter and food in our garden!

I am happy to have wonderful friends and inlaws and such a full and satisfying life, and I am bursting with  having such a wonderful H! :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

Thanks to all for the nice comments. I do confess to being more than a little nervous. Training soldiers and teaching kids are very different, in both method and intent. I've been going to conferences and seminars all summer, and I think I've gotten a handle on it. But still yet, the first class will be interesting, for sure. Since GF is counselling teens, and I will be teaching, we should be able to compare notes and bounce ideas off one anothe, and our ages (me-29 and her-27) should give us the empathy needed to guide these kids.

I am happy about last night's conversation at the dinner table.

My teenage daughter was discussing her future college plans, books we had purchased earlier, and what she wants to major in.

A classmate of hers, (a popular boy), has to read a book assigned by their teacher. I happened to devour this book about 5 years ago with all of my heart and summarized it for her. She was amazed.

With tears in her eyes she pounded the table and wondered why I wasn't a famous writer. Then she reached across the table, held my hand, and said she wants to be like me when she grows up.:lmao:

My dear friend and mother of four was sitting at our table with us. She was clearly touched by this gesture.

And today, with determination, my daughter decided to walk to school instead of getting a ride. She will impress her new classmate with all her knowledge of his newly assigned book.:D

MM always said I looked like Jean Harlowe. I beg to differ, but there you have it.

And someone else gave me the nickname of Magnolia, which I reference in the How Did You Get Your Username thread. I sported a magnolia in my avie when dear Lyssa, an LS favorite, died.

...because you're too busy being a famous artist!

I am happy that the new quince tree is doing well, sunshine has brought birds, bees and bunnies back to the garden and bright colours to the landscape.

I'm happy that the extended family had such a wonderful weekend at ours, that they're all gagging to come back, and I'm happy that the photos came out so well! It's great to see how deep a friendship between an xW and a GF can run, even after all those years.

I am happy that my H just can't keep his hands off me - even if it is interrupting my work and threatening my deadlines - and I'm happy to see all of our kids doing so well.

Very gloomy Oxford morning.

I am happy that goldfinches have taken up residence in the apple tree opposite my front window (so is big ginger tomcat from next door)

I am happy to hear that OWoman's world is joyous, it is good to hear of happy relationships and well blended families, 'tis always a good thing

I am happy at the lovely Christian Louboutin shoes H bought for me, in the right size and just gorgeous. Now to walk in them!

I am happy that we have a long weekend thanks to Bank Holiday Monday, off to Pitt Rivers museum on the weekend and a chance to try out my new camera

I am now officially shortlisted for the Cyprus job (gulp) it's to develop a service for those coming back from Afghan war, so very exciting. Fingers crossed

I am happy that when H and I talk about his A, it is now with regret and remorse that we took our eyes off our marriage and resolve to never do so again.

I am happy that I am looking at the hugest sunflowers, such happy flowers, big dinner plate heads all droopy with rain. Loks like they have had a heavy night out and are suffering, much as I will be tomorrow ..

Happy days all x

I'm not sure I ever posted to this thread before but here goes:

I am happy that:

1. Me and my fWH had a great evening last night (kids away at a sleepover). Lots of ... err... "intimacy" and then out for a great breakfast this morning.

2. One son, who has severe dyslexia and didn't learn to read/write until he was 12 (now 15 years old), got an A for English last term and has been promoted to the advanced maths class. He also umpires Aussie Rules football and even umpired a little league game at half time in an AFL (national) match recently in front of a crowd of 20,000+ people.

3. Our other son's football team has made the grand final in 2 weeks time. Plus he's been selected to play cricket as opening bowler for a local cricket team. Last season he got the club bowling award.

4. I will finish my LLB in 6 weeks and then go on to be admitted to legal practice. The culmination of many years of effort to achieve a lifelong ambition.

5. We have had 2 great holidays this year, one in the USA where we visited Hawaii and Disneyland and also got to experience a snowed in Washington DC, and another in tropical Port Douglas (far north Queensland).

6. We are planning a big party to jointly celebrate my graduation and my H's 50th birthday.

7. After a freezing cold winter here the weather is showing some signs of improvement.

I am happy, that during a very bad time in my life, I have true friends.

Some are with me and some are voiceless strangers on the internet who can't be with me. And sometimes those who are voiceless have the loudest voices...and biggest hearts.

Thank you, you know who you are.:love::love:

I am happy that I gave it a shot with my MM although it is now over and the future is uncertain.

I am happy I have my health, dignity and confidence back although I am still grieving.

I am happy I have dear friends around me.

I am happy to be grateful.
