The Happy Thread

Oh OWoman, how I miss the speaking at conferences, the feeling of holding an audience is such a powerful thing. Happy that you are regarded in such high esteem in your job that you are asked. Career choices are always good, even if difficult, I admit to sometimes accepting a change more for prestige and interest only to wishing I had stayed in the more challenging role. I too have had a job offer, very interesting, part time, in Scotland for oodles of dosh. Happy days eh?

I had the weeps today, totally self indulgent pity party about getting older and the face in the mirror not how I am inside. Thank God for H and his flattery and understanding. Thank God too for L'Oreal, tomorrow and a new hair dye. I shall be worth it! I may even spray tan my legs. I am a pale redhead well greying until tomorrow. new hair colour makes me happy.

I have a sleepy Lab on my legs (on the sofa shhhh) one snoring at my feet and now to have a brandy and gooey chocolate pud. Thing with insomnia, I get to eat the treats and have time to digest before bed and putting my cold hands on H.

Happy Days all xx

Congrats on the job offer! I hope it finances lots of whiskey tastings (and trips to that gorgeous fudge shop in Edinburgh...).

I'm happy I managed to catch the intrepid pheasant and carry her out of the house without too much damage, and I'm happy she suffered no lasting trauma and ate out of my hand again straight away. I'm glad my H cleaned up the pheasant droppings as it was his silly idea to let them in to join us for breakfast in the first place!

Pheasants in the kitchen OWoman, I used to have chickens in mine - thank God for slate floors!!

Today it is a lovely sunny day, daffodils and primulas out and the countryside in Oxford is bursting with flowers. Happy spring days!

I am off to join H in the Rugby club, it's an all dayer session, well until quite late tonight as three matches on. I predict I shall leave early to put a chicken in the oven to feed his hungry belly later. He shall come home all silly and tiddly, insisting he is sober. He will get all soppy before falling asleep on the sofa. Happy times just watching him be silly.

We have been looking at kittens, one Oriental Black beauty and a Norwegian Forest Cat. The former, I love and adore for their aloofness and beauty. The latter for their cuddliness and ability to stay warm in Bonnie Scotland. I just may get both, hope they are good mousers! I love cats.

My mad lab makes me laugh so, so much, she has no control over her rump or tail. Her whole body wags and her tail does a funny spinny helicopter wag. Mad as a box of frogs and gorgeous, of course so is by huge black lab boy too. They make me so, so happy.

Happy Days all, I hope evryone smiles more than they frown this weekend. seren x

I am happy there are some amazing posts here, and folks are enjoying their lives. For much of the time, in my view, happiness is a choice we make and I love that some people have difficult things in their world but choose to see positive and uplifting aspects. Kudos!!!

I am happy that my man, as of this weekend, has now met all of my loved ones. She (one of my best friends) came to stay and they quickly had 'the talk' (it wasn't you I hated it was what my wonderful friend was going through because of you)... and they got on fabulously. I'm thrilled.

I'm happy that my son has been accepted on the next school ski trip to the US and thus far has worked his butt off around the house to earn money (of mine!!!) to help pay for his trip because his father finds himself unable to contribute a brass farthing to it.

I'm happy my mum has a new horse she is very happy with; my mum finds it hard to be happy so every little helps!

I'm happy that although my shoulder problems seem to be getting worse very quickly, I have people around who do the 'lifting' and bring me hot water bottles and rub the worst area until it feels better. It means an awful lot.

I'm happy the sun is shining so much! It's a beautiful day.

I'm happy me and he have Friday off to play golf, just the two of us. Can't wait.

I'm happy to be working from home today so I will see my lad at 3.40 when he walks through the door after school all chipper and gives his mum a big kiss!

No Happy Thread you cannot wither and die!!

It's gone 3:30 in the morning and insomnia is still lurking. Not happy as I toss and turn and disturb H, so I sit here and really just want to snuggle.

Packing, packing, packing, boxes everywhere, throwing stuff out is not cathartic, it's hard, especially when the stuff(s) are my shoes or dresses. Hmm not doing it, in fact have to open the dresses box as we have a cocktail party to attend. I love parties, especially cocktails!!

H has a job on the shooting estate we are moving to as a gardener!! if you knew H you would realise how incongrous this is, I anticipate lots of texts with pics asking what to do with said plant. Happy though, it means he will be occupied and not a plane or gun in sight. Yay!! making war on weeds.

Waiting for a CT scan, looks like both submandilar glands have to come out, I am thinking, I shall ask that they tuck the chin up while they are at it - nasty surgery has to have some perks and a firm chin will make me ecstatic.

Everything is falling into place nicely, spring has sprung, flowers everywhere and I have a spa day coming up - this will be followed by chocolate cake, but I will feel virtuous for a short time before the calorie fest. I bloody loves chocolate it makes me very happy.

It's our Silver Wedding Anniversary Thursday, 25 years, much drama, much, much love and lust. My H makes me so happy, I just love the bones of the man and he me. Life is dammed good.

Now to bed and snuggling and much warming of my cold hands and feet on my hot, hot hubby.

Happy Days all Seren xx

This is undoubtedly the worst week I have had for many, many months and it's not even halfway through... :(:(

But I adore this thread so feel I want to add something...

I am happy, having read the Empathy thread, that this board has Seren and Silk posting. They are awesome posters and seem like awesome people and I find them inspirational. The OW board is lucky to have them.

I am SO happy with my sweet man! He was off yesterday, so he plumbed in a new, much larger pressure tank for our well pump. MAN, does that make a difference! He also had a nice dinner ready for us when I got home from work. He's SUCH a good man, and I am so very lucky he's mine all mine!

I am happy that I am getting so many invitations to speak at conferences, even if I am turning most of them down.

I am happy that I have career options - even if the decisions are tough

I am happy that I have such a wonderful H who is so supportive and caring!

I just came here to read your happy thoughts, the both of you. You both inspire me and I need inspiration today.

Congrats to both of you, you're both amazing women.

Colored hair, chocolate, and spirits. That always makes a woman feel happy!

I am happy that the fields are full of lambs, the trees are full of buds (some even have leaves! Some even have blossoms!) and the garden is full of birds. Definite signs of spring!

I am happy that my session went well at the conference, and I am happy that it was in such a lovely venue. But I am especially happy to be home again, if only briefly before visiting the in-laws.

I am happy my new dress looks so stunning and I'm happy that my headache is finally abating.

Happy spring, everyone in the northern hemisphere, and happy harvest, everyone in the southern hemisphere!

I am happy that, in a week full of sadness, so many people have shown me care and understanding, even in the least-expected quarters (unfriendly colleagues and demanding bosses). Reminded me how much kindness there is in the world if only we choose to see it.

I hope everyone has a very happy weekend!!

WF (()) sent your way along with a huge bunch of orange Gladioli, such in your face, spiky flowers, they always inspire a laugh or too from me. I see them as the Punk Rockers (along with Bird of Paradise) of the flower world.

Silly Girl, I hope your days get easier and glad you have got IRL support.

We have been packing, again, found loads of lipsticks I had forgotten about, a pair of silver Ted Baker F Off heels I thought I had lost, spent tonight in my jammas, admiring my lovely shoes, if I cannot wear them upright I shall recline and have sexy feet (in tartan jammas).

Had a maudlin moment today, bit of a menopausal pity party (I hate pity parties), but ended up buried in waggy tailed, licky labradors, all but smothered me with doggy hugs and joy - exit maudlin moment enter happy lab love fest. I love my dogs, they so make me laugh.

Anniversary with H was lovely, he had a charm made in the shape of the new house, I bought him an antique hip flask for Scotland and Whisky, we had fish and chips amid the packing boxes and a raspberry and amarreto cheescake courtesy of Mr Waitrose. Happy days.

Happy Weekend all x

I am happy because I have finally declared a major: I want to be Seren when I grow up (with Owoman's argumentation skills). Owoman reminds me to believe in myself and Seren reminds me to not see it as a fight but an experience (and a life) to enjoy.

One day we will all sit around a tea table (not drinking tea!) and just laugh our arses off. This thread makes me happy.

PS. Happy stitches came out and skin cancer is gone. 3rd one down, hope 0 to go.

(((((Whiteflower))))))...good to hear the stitches are off!!!!

I am happy that my SO is here for the weekend...the weather is still "blah" but he was very patient with me while we shopped most of the afternoon. We did not have dinner out but instead HE cooked! Yummy stuff!

I am happy because he looks so good in my bed...softly snoring...hehe cute... He fell asleep while watching TV.

I am happy because it has been a relatively quiet night...just two job-related calls to take care of .....

Sounds perfect, Seren! Hope your blues are behind you, and nothing but waggy tails and iridescent pheasants and happy days lie ahead, marinated in the finest single malt.

I'm happy after a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with the in-laws. My H and I spent the weekend, his siblings joined us for Mother's Day yesterday and the house was full of family, three generations and 8 decades between us. Tripping over each other in their kitchen, cuddling up together on the sofa looking through ancient photos, laughing and hugging and talking and all of those cups of tea...

And then the yummiest meal with the kids when we got back, slipping into a quiet mellow evening watching movies and listening to music and drinking cocktails, doing more family bonding. It all seems very quiet now with just the wee beasties.

Hope everyone else had as good a weekend :)

Ahhh, so much happiness and joy, complete with vulnerable, sleeping boyfriends and doggy love!

I'm happy everyone on here is so happy and looking forward to spring and all. I'm happy that at karaoke over the weekend my sweety sang a love song after dedicating it to me.

I get to say my HUSBAND. When referring to the most wonderful man I have ever met.

The trip with the kids was fun and there was no huge blowup like I was worried about with our longest trip yet.

Happy for you Tinani, I love the Husband word too, never tire of it, sometimes tire of the man, for a very little while, after 25 years married I am bound to and allowed, but wouldn't change it or him for the world. Yay to you both.

Packing still, removals coming for quotes tomorrow so stuffing stuff into cupboards so it doesn't look messy!! H thinks I have finally lost the plot as I am repacking all the unpacking to be packed!!

Found Madam Madpants the bonkers labrador in a box! I think she has had enough and just wants to get there PDQ, made me laugh muchly.

I have discovered a beautiful upholstered love seat for the house, tis red leather with crystal studs. H thinks I have gone bonkers, I was looking for a fat, upholstered Edwardian lounge chair, but red leather and crystals is just so over the top ..... I am thinking H is going to be gardener/gamekeeper, I have a turret so, let's do the whole Lady Chatterly thing. Ooh la la och aye the noo

Happy days all Seren x

I'm happy our neighbour popped in with some eggs and invited us to join in the lambing whenever we want :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

I'm happy the storm seems to have blown itself out at last and hopeful that blue skies may yet return.

I'm happy we had a good audit review today. Exhausted but happy.

I'm happy that my son feels more and more each day that we did completely the right thing in having our lovely dog (closest he had to a sibling) put to sleep last week. He is rejoicing in her memory more than mourning her and I am very proud of him for that.

I'm happy me and my man are sneaking off to a gorgeous hotel for food, golf, pampering etc. leaving all our work stresses behind.

I'm happy my sister had a great birthday meal and loved her presents and all the things we'd done/set out to make her feel special on her 30th

I had a good audit review on Friday, and impressed my new boss very much. And I impressed her again today. She is so happy that she chose me for the position.:)

I am happy that I am doing well. It has been a difficult few months, but I am coming out of it ok, and on my own. I have been strong my whole life, but now I am proving it moreso by doing it without leaning on anyone. And if I can do it, anyone can!

Happy day everyone!
