When did Curvy Start meaning Fat?

Recommended Posts

As an example, at her lowest weight, stbx was 170 on a 5'1" frame.

That's not curvy, that's obese.

And hey, Slim is a euphemism for scrawny and anorexic. Let us Fat Women have some dignity in our dating arena. I'm no more interested in dating a guy who finds me unattractive than he's interested in dating me. So quid pro quo.

I just don't think heavy women are actualy that curvy... their breasts and a$$ have poor shape to them and they often have big guts.

Fat women find all skinny women anorexic its hilarious that they don't seem to understand how eating healthy can make some one look good. They have to blame it on anorexia haha

No, I would classify myself as curvy, as in hourglass. If a woman's gut hangs out like a spare tire, then that's no longer curvy.

And no, I don't think that all skinny women are anorexic, and yes I do completely understand the concept of healthy eating. I don't hate a skinny person. I see people in all shapes and sizes; it's really a matter of accepting people for who they are. It doesn't mean you have to date them all, but certainly don't hold someone in contempt for their body shape.

Sometimes what you see isn't what you get when it comes to curvy.

Someone would probably look at me and see me as 'big' but my butt and legs are rock hard (I do a lot of physical work - bending, squatting, lifting heavy boxes, etc.) and my shoulders and arms are equally broad and firm.

I am big and curvy - shaped like a brick hourglass so to speak, rather than skinny with rounded angles. Nothing jiggles, but I am definitely 'thicker' looking than most. Working on the belly though. When you get my age, that doesn't take care of itself anymore. I'm lucky that I've always had an hourglass shape. Weigh tends to distribute more forgivingly all over that way.

I don't think that thin women are anorexic, but you can tell the difference between naturally thin women and ones who really have to work at it.

I'd say she's between curvy and thick, probably closer to thick though because her bodyfat is somewhat up there (evidenced by the upper arms and hips--you can tell they tried to hide her arms by how they're pulled back pushing her boobs out). The girl in the middle below is the perfect example of "curvy" AND being well proportioned. The girl int the picture above is probably in "overweight" per the BMI, but the one in the middle below is likely not:

Curvy ? Thats even outdated. On the dating site I'm on, the body types are as follows :

thin

athletic

average

few extra pounds

bbw

The FAT women which I would describe as being 20 lbs or more overweight list themselves as average. A few of them list themselves as athletic. I think these delusional women think that if they have athletic hobbies, softball, tennis, etc, that they can list themselves as athletic. Athletic means fit and trim body, not based on your activities.

You do realize none of them really look like that don't you? You do realize that photo has been heavily photoshopped?

So? I was watching her on television, and her body looks exactly like that.

Curvy/Thick, same thing. The girl in the middle? That girl is skinny, not curvy. Girl on the right is curvy.

Also, BMI is a joke, I can't believe it's actually still used as a serious measure of weight and health. Hell, by my BMI I'm way overweight because of muscle mass.

That's just a sign of the times. Average American's ARE overweight and/or obese. Only 1/3 are are a healthy weight for their height these days, so the "average" weight is inching higher and higher. That doesn't mean they're average in regards to an average HEALTHY weight for their given height. I haven't experienced the part about people listing athletic because of their hobbies. Athletic women I see listed are actually fit and trim, you know, like actual athletes.

BMI is a perfectly valid measure of fitness for average people. Keyword being AVERAGE. If you're fit and muscled, like weight lifters and high-end athletes, then it doesn't apply. For average everyday people though it's relevant.

Right, so it doesn't apply to everyone yet it is used for everyone, and thus is a joke. Kind of like IQ.

both those girls on the left are skinny. the one in the middle just has big boobs. the one all the way to the left looks borderline too skinny/anorexic. the one on the right is fat, not curvy. somewhere in between the one in the middle and the one on the right is "curvy".

I was thinking the same thing. The girl in the middle is skinny with big boobs... not curvy. Girl on the right is good definition of curvy.

Woah Woah! Curvy and thick are NOT the same thing. Few women are thick as opposed to curvy. Didn't I go into an analysis on this already?

Love this topic. I see a lot of confident realistic women reply to these posts. Its refreshing. Post this same topic in the marriage section and you will be hit with an onslaught of defensive (probably) overweight women responding in the harshest manner possible for even mentioning the fact that some women who describe themselves as curvy are **gasp** in reality, fat.

I certainly like a women who is soft with curves. Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, J,LO..they are all hot. But they are NOT fat. On the dating scene many women who compare their bodies to these women ARE FAT. Those girls mentioned above dont have flabby guts, a boatload of cellulite and a big jiggly ass, floppy arms and backfat. I wish women would be more realistic when they try to describe themselves, if your overweight, just say your overweight but working on it. Better for a guy to find out BEFORE you get to the point of taking your clothes off, in clothes a overweight woman can almost look beyonce-ish(clothes can hide a lot) but when they come off its usually far "beyond" beyonce.

Im not saying its not ok to be a little overweight(if you make some type of effort to improve), but dont misrepresent yourself.

Beyonce- Curvy.

Mo'nique- Fat.

I think Mo'nique is the one who started calling larger women "curvy". She had that pageant for big women and I remember her calling them "curvy.

Beg to differ. I'm fairly positive Kim Kardashian and JLo have jiggly asses.

Really ? you think girls who work out every day have Jiggly asses ?

If so I would think 99.9 percent of guys would be glad to get their hands on that jiggle.

So just to recap:

Kim Kardashian-Curvy

Queen Latifah-Fat

J-Lo: Curvy

Current Janet Jackson: Fat

Beyonce:Curvy

Oprah:Fat

There is a difference between their jiggly selulite asses and the Massive hanging super duper celulite asses of the women who make the FALSE CURVEY COMPARISON.

Its one thing to be beyonce and hava a big ass and celulite... its another thing to be Monique and say you are Curvey

So since Big Women can use CURVY, BBW, PLUMP, what terms can overweight men use?

Teddybear is out, so what else?
