bluewolf17
I wasn't sure where to post this..so I thought maybe here. I have multiple personality disorder when it comes to hair color. I don't mean crazy 5 color hair, but I can't decide and stick to a hair color. I would say most of the time, I am blonde. The other times it's different shades of brown. Never to dark, as I am white with blue eyes and my skin tone is pale. So, my question is, I have crossed over to red head. It's currently a dark red. I do love it, and I think my skin tone works with it..but problem is my makeup! I have no idea what makeup to wear with red/white skin/blue eyes. I have been expirementing a little. Any suggestions out there? Here is a link to my color complex http://picsdigger.com/image/6dea2138/ but my eyes are blue, not green. Thanks!
deux ex machina
I wasn't sure where to post this..so I thought maybe here. I have multiple personality disorder when it comes to hair color. I keep thinking anything with an orange-warm undertone for that shade of red. Also, you have blue eyes, and orange is complementary to blue...it should help make the blue "pop". Off the top of my head, I'm thinking brick, cinnamon, warm brown, peach, copper, and terracotta shades may work well. If you have a blue undertone to your skin though, you might do well with navy blue, green, ect. I've seen redheads that look great in moss green, earthy brown colors, tweedy greys, and even pink (apparently old advice was that redheads shouldn't wear pink, but I've seen it work - depends on the shade, perhaps). kiss_andmakeup
Greenish colours...green is opposite on the colour wheel from red and they complement each other beautifully. For a more neutral look try warm golds, coppers, and browns. I would stay away from cool toned colours like blue and purple. Red is a gorgeous haircolour especially with fair skin and blue eyes...enjoy it!
marsle85
Careful, I used to change my hair color frequently too... but when you decide to stop (and you eventually will) you'll want one solid color you can LIVE with... and then comes the problems. Suddenly it's more important on how healthy your hair looks instead of what color it is, and the past dying/lifting really does some damage. I'm a dirty blonde, I've gone super blonde and relatively dark... my complexion is pretty universal for hair coloring (which opened way too many doors) now it's a little past my shoulders because it's been about 2 years since i've dyed, and I want to grow it out. Guess what, had to cut it SHORT to get rid of odd spare coloring and split ends... which leaves me with where I am now. I don't care whether your hair long or short, healthy is key*. As a hairdresser I agree, however damage mostly comes from going from dark to light. If she went from blonde to red she most likely didn't damage her hair much, as she only had to deposit colour rather than lift any out. It's when she decides she misses being blonde and wants to go back to that, that she has to worry about damage. Even going from dark to light can be done in a way that preserves the integrity of the hair. I usually suggest gradual highlighting (getting slightly more blonde every 4-6 weeks). It's a lot of time and money, but hey, this is why I have a job!
Author bluewolf17
Thanks everyone! Time to play with makeup! I have a wonderful stylist who always has my hairs health in mind. I follow her rules, but she lets me decide in the end. I went from a honey blonde to the red, so she just added the red over it. At first it was almost a Dr. Pepper red, but after a few washings (as she told me) it has lightened up to the color I want. Plus the blonde underneath makes the red that covered it, lighter is some areas. So it's not just a flat color. I agree with you Marsle, health is key! I am trying to stay away from the blonde (stripping color) to give my hair a break. But it's very thick and wavy and takes to hair color really well. Someday, I will decide on a color.. Question, I love the idea of being able to wear more green (eyecolor) but I read that I should stay away from certain blush colors (I actually use a cream blush). Kiss and Makeup-What's a normal makeup you use? Like just for the office/out and about.

Kiss and Makeup-What's a normal makeup you use? Like just for the office/out and about. The blush is entirely dependent on your skin tone. Even if you're fair, you could have a variety of undertones (warm, cool, neutral). The only thing I'd really stay away from is super bright rosy blush...you don't want it to compete with your hair. If you have any redness in your skin naturally, you're going to want to make sure you balance it out with a good concealer or foundation, as the red in your hair is going to emphasize it. Do you mean what brand of cosmetics do I use? I love MAC, personally, for eyeshadows, blushers, concealers, and pretty much everything. For foundation, I use Everyday Minerals. Their mineral foundation is the best (better than Bare Escentuals IMO) and they have an incredible selection of shades. I use their "Original Glow" formula base in the shade "Olive Fair." Hope that helps. :]
