Star Gazer
Right, but the "hot" women in the pictures you've put up haven't had plastic surgery, don't starve themselves to stay thin, don't spend a fortune in time and money on appearance and are completely realistic representations of healthy woman hood. Honestly, how do you know this?
brainygirl
So Megan Fox has never had plastic surgery, doesn't do anything extra as far as hair and make up and never bothers to work out please. I am not saying that slender body types don't exist, I am saying that the super model, pin up types work extrordinarily hard to look like that.
Star Gazer
So Megan Fox has never had plastic surgery, doesn't do anything extra as far as hair and make up and never bothers to work out please. Actually, she hasn't had surgery, and she's even stopped tanning and wearing a lot of makeup (checkout the new issue of Allure). I am not saying that slender body types don't exist, I am saying that the super model, pin up types work extrordinarily hard to look like that. Again, how do you know this? And the picture that started this thread didn't contain supermodels or even actresses. They looked like college girls. You don't have to have plastic surgery or spend hours everyday working on your appearance to be gorgeous. There ARE women who are just born that way. Sure, they're not your average woman, but it's insulting to act like it's not natural!

MrNate
This thread proves if you are hot, you can get away with anything. maybe not anything, but they do get more passes. the more universally attractive you are the higher your quality of life is usually in certain areas. Feelin Frisky
I find generalizations predictable, oring and subjective--as in where does "skinny" start and end? etc. Sorry.

(and yes, I know I am a representation of fat woman hood, that is entirely beside my current point) Course not. They popped out of the womb with perfect sleek curls, completely hairless legs, perfect breasts, completely flat abdomens, and picture-perfect faces. And even if they didn't, who cares, right? Certainly not the men who are missing the point of the male pictures.
mixwell
You know what I prefer ? I prefer a woman skinny, fit, average, a little meat that I find sexy and that I connect with.. I know it sounds lame but I personally wouldn't classify a women to a "T" and I don't like women that are just overweight, lazy slobs but a thick chick is all good with me.. I would (personally) rather date a good looking women who was considered a little overweight or thick with a bad ass personality than a smoking hot chick that was just boring and uninteresting.. Whether or not people admit it I think it is true because once you get your "prize" and no matter how hot she is you will get bored and her lack of personality will quickly become a HUGE turn off.. (and yes, I know I am a representation of fat woman hood, that is entirely beside my current point) In a basic criticism of your post it does sound like you're hating on some women.. You don't know if these women go to the gym 5 days a week to obtain their figure and bust their ass to stay in shape which I would commend them for that... On another note that strikes up a thought is how society has the "perfect woman" perspective and say if you don't look like their idealism of a perfect women then something is wrong with you... Remember that within the last few centuries thick women were considered sexy because in a more basic state it meant that they could afford to eat and were healthy and had more "child bearing" aspects than a skinny chick.. With that said I feel that each person has the power (if unhappy with themselves) to change their appearance whether it be an overweight chick etc... If you realize that you're unhappy with your appearance then you puyt in work to try your hardest to improve "flaws" you view in yourself.. That can apply to being overweight, broke with no job or any other issue you can correct yourself.

While I agree with the rest of your post, I think you misinterpreted brainy's post. Hers was a response to sagetalk's, that many good-looking muscular men put themselves on steroids, which are unhealthy, in order to obtain the 'perfect male image' quickly and easily. She was merely pointing out that it is a hypocrisy to cry 'unhealthy!' at the images of muscular men, while admiring images of thin, hourglass-shaped women with perfect breasts and asses. It is entirely possible that these women attained their figure through healthy means, but it is also possible that these men attained the muscles by working out and eating right. It is possible that the men took anabolic steroids... but it is also entirely possible that the women are anorexic, or had plastic surgery done, or liposuction, or Botox, or diet too hard, or exercise too hard, or take 'diet pills', all of which are as detrimental to health as steroids. Crying foul at 'hot photos' of one gender and drooling over 'hot photos' of the other is double standard to its extreme. Especially for a man who associates feminity in a woman with how often she wears high heels. Which, of course, cause NO damage to one's vertebrae, hipbones, and feet whatsoever... gypsy_nicky
And from the pictures posted, the sought after "jacked" look is attributed more to low body fat, which is a figure that cannot be represented from BMI. Many of those male models in the pictures are more lean than muscular...it's just that leanness tends to display the muscles they do have better... But BMI is just a number...or a guideline...you do with it what you want...it's not an absolute determinant of anything...but it gives you a piece of information about your body...that's all it's meant to do... if were taking this more technically, to an extent bodyfat levels can be somewhat correlated to bmi. The lower your bmi, the lower bodyfat you will generally possess. Muscular and leanness are more of semantics. A big 250lb linebacker with 20% fat will look fat not muscular. BMI isnt just a number. Although it can be taken to generalize some things (ideal weight range) it is more specific in other things-such as how attractive you will look, your height to weight ratio (proportions). What it does not do however as you mentioned, is predict bodyfat levels.
Taramere
Well.. I don't agree but most of the pics of men that have been posted are obviously models/actors who must spend an extraordinary amount of time working out and counting every calorie. Which of course female models do as well. But a woman to look like the girls in the beach photo doesn't need to put all that extra time into muscle building. If these guys have 40 - 60 hr /week desk jobs and other life responsibilities like most of us they wouldn't do much but that and the gym leaving little time for much else in life. http://images.dailyfill.com/0cb4a31b000c40d3_9bc719db875d0a8c/o/INFphoto_1244845_copy.jpg would probably be the male equivalent of the college girls in the beach photos. The one to the right has a body similar to a guy I know who is in his 40s. Admittedly he (the guy I know) does a job that is physical in nature, and he also does a fair bit of gym time...but he certainly doesn't spend an inordinate amount of time in the gym. Some people tone up much faster than others. Good genetics and how fit a person was in their younger days obviously give a major advantage. I see these types at the gym. I go 3 - 5 times a week when I can. They're working out like 2-3 hrs a day seven days a week. Not much of a life. Some of them might be people who aren't naturally blessed, and who work inordinately hard to look in good shape. Maybe when they were guys at school, they were the puny ones who felt overlooked....and so they work extra hard in adulthood to be in shape. Trying to make up for something they missed out in their earlier days. There's a guy at my gym who always seems to be there. He hogs the stairmaster for hours at a time. He's been going there as long as I can remember, works really hard....but although he's maybe a bit thinner than he was, he's still not in anything like good shape. If he weren't such a scumbag (this guy is the bane of my life at the gym - he never wipes the equipment down after him, "books" various pieces of equipment with towels, and seems to grunt, groan and gasp as loudly as he possibly can. Also, once in the swimming pool I caught him in the ladies showers, putting a finger against one nostril and blowing the other one out onto the floor) I'd feel sorry for him. He most probably has a combination of poor genes and bad fitness in his younger days that will make it near impossible for him to get into shape. SadandConfusedWA
Hihihi. Of course skinny yet curvy women are hot. I have gained some weight in the past year and am currently sporting "fat britney" look. I am not offended at all when someone comments that I have gained a few, or that I looked better thinner. I have a mirror and a scale and am well aware of this (and am currently working hard to lose the weight). That woman that brainy_girl has posted is obese and not attractive to about 95% of male population. Sorry but that's the blunt truth.
Kamille
Goodness this thread is hilarious! I have no insightful comment other then: oh what? No gender likes to be confronted to idealized standard of beauty??? Shocker! Then who cares what anyone else thinks? I actually think I have the reverse form of anorexia (where girls constantly think they're too fat). I think I look good/thin in the mirror. I mean, I say, "Damn girl, lookin' good today!" and then I see a picture of myself and I go, "OMG...OMG...I need to D.I.E.T." This made me laugh. I think I suffer from this disease too! I think I look great but then in pics I can see I'm slightly bigger than most girls. I think it's because I'm tall and I carry my curves well. I've learned to like my body type because it's never been an issue with any guy I've dated. They all proclaimed to find me smoking hot. I'm also very proportionate for my size and can usually buy clothes off the rack. Even then, I like to use tailors once in awhile to enhance my figure. I just see it as personalizing my wardrobe. But that's a side note. I don't photograph well, and that is part of the whole problem with online dating.,. I take a bad picture. Ha, you may think you don't photograph well, but take a camera with a timer and practice! I used to look horrible on most pics but can now manage decent pictures. Ah, the miracle of digital photography. It's like everything else, it's something you can learn. Try to push your head forward and your shoulders back. It might feel weird, but it's what most models do in most shots.

The same could be said for one of my cousins as well. They are not "work out toned", they are just skinny. I like the look because I'm a slim fit guy. Slim and fit, skinny, and toned/curvy aar the best looks on a women in my opinion. They are also hard to get a date with (competition) and most of them will dump you lightning fast. Bogo123
Skinny girls do absolutely nothing for me. I like a woman with curves and some meat on her bones. I can't understand why guys are attracted to a woman that has the body of a 15 yr old boy. I'm an ass and thigh man. So ladies, keep eating and doing those squats!!! MrNate
WHAT!? This girl is totally disproportionate! Her thighs are huge (muscular, but huge) compared to the rest of her body hmm I don't find them to be that bad. I'm a sucker for tight, firm legs, because that usually implies that behind her legs ( or most muscular/toned legs) is an amazing ass. I find a woman's legs to be the most sexy physical feature. When I see a pair of legs that I can tell have been worked, and are reaching their potential, I can't help but get a nice good stare in. They may be slightly big, but I'm know her ass gets plenty of attention from men and women. This is why I think squats just do wonders for womens' legs, whether they be light or heavy. Plus, it's always nice to see a snow bunny with a firm ass.

This is proof that curves can be attained in the gym. So there IS hope for all you flat butted women out there. I personally prefer a woman that's naturally curvy. However, nothing beats the combo: natural curves + squats = amazing!
FitChick
With that said I feel that each person has the power (if unhappy with themselves) to change their appearance whether it be an overweight chick etc... If you realize that you're unhappy with your appearance then you put in work to try your hardest to improve "flaws" you view in yourself.. But it's so much easier for lazy people to whine than actually do something about it. As for criticizing actresses and models for having perfect hair and makeup, most only look that way when they are working and professionals do the work for them. When they are not working, they usually wear no makeup and shove their hair under a baseball cap. Not exactly slaves to their appearance.
