Yashy
this girl and I used to work together 3years ago. She was from the US and came over to England to work for a few months. After she left, we kept in touch for 3years via social networking site and emailed one another once every 6-7weeks. In January of this year, her boyfriend/fiance left her. I ended up heading over to the US to visit some family and seeing as I was headed there, decided to make the effort to go and see her too. We stayed at a hotel and ended up making out and she stayed with me for two nights. On the last day, she seemed slightly distant and I was more passionate with her, I would kiss her and she would let me but I could tell she was holding back or maybe not feeling it. Since then, I wrote a humorous email but ended up getting a rather average one liner in return. All I want, is to resume our friendship as I value it so much. Sure she means a lot to me, but I really want us to be friends. An international relationship is not going to happen at the moment. So my point is, in order to increase the chances of our friendship continuing, should I tell her that I thought she felt uneasy and uncomfortable on the last day and to let me know if I came on strong and that from it all I just want to resume our friendship? Or should I just keep away for now and start with humorous/funny chats later in order to keep things light? Thanks Y
Spiritofnow
I always believe that honesty is the best way to go forward. You could let her know how you interpreted her behaviour and then ask her if you are correct. I am guessing that she was still feeling the after effects of the break-up with her finance. I would tell her how much you value the friendship you have with her and if she feels the same she will want to continue on with that. Be mindful to remember that sometimes when we cross the boundaries of friendship it can make it difficult to go back. I hope it goes well for you.
